...and I think steeling then stropping is the perfect solution for the CGFBM! At least it seems to be the kind of cleanup mine likes after eating.

At first I tried touching up via resharpening after each use but not only is it time consuming but it removes all that metal...which thanks to ye INFI gods you can instead just bend back into place then sharpen it up again on the strop. Suhhhweeeeet!

I'm just so excited how easily the little rolled bits go back into line....damn that's cool. :D

I love my Mistress!

Good for you! I keep a steel around for all my blades. Another one of those "No Regrets" things.

What kind of steel did you get and where did you get it? Off the innernets?

Mine is smooth, no grooves or abrasive. I don't remember the brand off-hand, I picked it up for $11 from a local hardware store called Hardwicks. That place rules.

Dude, you went to Hardwick's, and didn't invite me? :grumpy: .............;) :D

That place is the coolest "old" tool store ever. I've spent a lotta moolah on tools in that place.

I bought my steel and ceramic rod from handamerican.com. Good people and great products.

One of the cool things about Hardwicks is they carry a broad selection from cheap knockoffs to the cream of the crop for a given item...so if you want throwaway tools you can get them, or if you want quality they'll sell you that too. Awesome.
