Last weekend I drove up to Tn, and bought an old used surface grinder. Currently I'm cleaning it up. You know what those are good for though...

Nice Andy. Looking forward to seeing how you put it to work. What did you score by the way?

I bought Frank Centofante's old surface grinder. It was manufactured in 1917 best I can find. But its a good working one. And the whole thing is cast iron. Heavy stuff. I think it'll do what I want.

It will allow me to start thinking about knives that pivot closed.

Wow, its a piece of history! So you're thinking about a folder Andy?? Can we get on the list now??

Edit: If ever there is a list I'm hereby signing up first :P

Exciting news, I bet you're stoked Andy. There's some deep history and a large legacy to carry on with that grinder, best wishes for your progression and diversification in 2013!

Cheers,
David

I like collecting and using tools with a historic legacy. I have an anvil that Bill Moran hammered on once. Neato.

Andy, sounds interesting! Is there any chance that we can get some pictures of the new Grinder? I have no clue what a Surface grinder looks like.
