Received this late last week from JKD's Georgia office. I carried this one with me over the weekend at a desert day trip and archery the following day.

Kiku Matsuda knives caught my attention years ago but slipped off my radar until recently.

Seems like a mix of some traditional Nihonto elements (hamon and hamaguriba edge)

He uses OU-31 steel and has his sign.

This model with something almost like an o-kissaki caught my attention.

Probably wont be my last one. ;)

I did a web search on "Kiku Matsuda" and found a web site that specializes in blades by Japanese knifemakers. The site has many pictures of knives by Kiku Matsuda, all beautiful, mostly sold out, rather expensive but worthwhile if you have the money.

The Rhino blade shape above reminds me of the "crysknife" from the Dune books and movies, though the crysknife was made from the tooth of Shai-Hulud, the giant sandworm of Dune, rather than steel.

You were most likely on Japanese Knives Direct. It's where I got it.

Ahhh, yes the blade does look similar. It looks like a piece of horn or tooth.

Yup, that was my guess too. Much too pointy to make a good skinner. Reckon it would work in a pinch though.

Mine feels very comfortable and handy for any task.

So far it's been used to help retrieve stuck arrows from target bales.
