Got Ahold of a HEST Today

I really wasn't liking the ESEE 3/4 strictly due to the length of the handle. I have big mitts and it just seemed to short in my hand.

Well I finally found someone with a HEST today (was that yours stjones?) and got to get a feel for it. Fit my hand with room to spare and as strange as the grip/scales look it felt great.

I guess I know what my next purchase is after I pay for the new Dillon XL 650 I took home last weekend.
 
The HEST is an awesome knife and has SO many uses in survival or every day carry (bottle opener :D )

Glad you liked it, once you finally have one of your own you should take pictures of it in action and post them here
 
I have not held a HEST, but they look like a nice knife. Although, it is a smaller knife than the 3 and 4. It looks like the hand space is about the same or less. So I don't know how it feels bigger in your hand. Maybe it is just the way it is shaped.
 
Yep love mine, when I first started wearing it a wore it backwards with tip forward as I was afraid it would wear/rip my truck seat getting in. Not the case now I wear it regular and don't even know its there.. been over 2 weeks now..

If i recall from side by side pics the 3 and HEST are almost exactly the same OAL, but the HEST has more handle room, because the blade is a little shorter and it doesn't have the choil.

Green hat guy tried to bring that by a few days ago but I wasn't home.
Wait till you get to hold my HEST folder!!! :D
I'll make sure my AH1 and bandanna make it that way as well. Maybe I'll come with them so I can actually MEET you!!! :eek:

The HEST is 7.62" and the 3 is 8 5/16. Not a huge difference. I figure it is the way the knife is shaped.
 
Great choice for a knife. I love my HEST, and it's my EDC knife. At first the pry bar kept poking me in the side but I fixed that by carrying on my weak side and my Glock on my strong side.
