Got Another Umfaan Today *UPDATE

Nice Score.....!!! I have seen very few pop up over the years. I passed on one long ago. Look to be great knives. Just a little smallish for me as you know me, I wanna use it. For me the small sebenza is too small, so its large all the way. But these have a special place in any collection, kinda like a mnandi. Maybe Someday......lol. Again congrats. Love the CGG...!!!

Nice score, very rare piece. The anodization on the first 40 regular (non-preproducion) Umfaans was an accident, they were all supposed to be plain grey. The 50 PP knives are multi colored, not solid blue.

I have always admired the look of the Umfaan and thought it would be a very cool alternative to having a Mnandi.

Perhaps, if you have the time, you would be willing to post some comparison shots to various other CRK's you have? It would be fun to see the comparisons, plus I just like looking at CRK's!

I'd like to try and pick one up one day, but its close to impossible to find one.

I didn't want to carry the Umfaan in the original CRK leather slip sheath so I had a AG Russell sheath / pouch that I modified. I cut the flap off, trimmed down the back and took off the loop for the flap on the front. Fits great and slides right into my pocket for edc.

What didn't you like about the CRK pouch sheath?

^ Sure MMAR: I tried to line the knives up to the right side as best I could so you could see the difference in sizes.

Top: Small Plain Regular Sebenza
Middle: Mnandi w/ African Blackwood Inlay
Bottom: Umfaan w/ Blue Circles Pattern

I don't suppose that you have a Sanrenmu 710 that you could lay it against for a size comparison?

I didn't want to mess up the original sheath, wanted to keep it minty new that was all.

Dang it! Now something else I need to hunt for. This looks like an awesome knife. I like the size of my Mnandi and the overall look and operation of my small 21's. The umfann looks like it might be perfect for me.

Congratulations on your acquisition. Also, thanks for taking time to post the comparison photos.
