Got back a CF BG42 Military

Noticed one on Ebay this morning. Been wanting another sense I had sold mine years ago. The Ol' interweb must have been sleepy today with Fathers Day and all. Placed the 199.00 starting bid on it and no other bidders. I am thinking this is a dang good deal. Got another sweet deal this morning as well. I got to get off the web before I max out my CC.
Anyone remember what year the BG42 Milli came out and the number made?

Box is marked JF so IIRC that should be Oct 2006. Can't remember how many where made. At that time I seem to remember 300,600 and 1200 pc runs where happening a lot.
 
When I sold mine I figured I would pick up another one quickly. Nope, they just seemed to all disappear. I loved the BG 42 steel in the Military.
So Sal, how about we talk about a Para in BG42 so that us old guys can have a matched set? :) It must have been a really well received steel offering as quickly as these evaporated from the secondary market into private collections and are hardly ever put back up for sale.

I always speak up when BG-42 comes up.

Carpenter CTS-B75P is similar to the gone forever BG-42. Spyderco intended to make a Manix 2 with CTS-B75P but received mis-marked CTS-BD30P and did not realize it until heat treating the blades.

I carry this reground BG-42 Military a lot:

I didn't know BG42 was gone. I was thinking Buck was still using it some. That is a shame. I have loved it in every knife I have owned that had it.
 
The BG42 military was the best one I have ever owned! That steel was just fantastic.
 
It is the one steel I really miss. I like 20cv and M390 but I have not noticed it being better than BG42. IMO CRK going from BG42 to S30V was a big down grade.
