It has been a long time since I have been around here. I got burnt out almost 2 years ago after a hard go at it and took a leave. I have no idea where I am heading but for right now here is a new knife I built for myself. I was getting the idea after looking at antique hunting equipment ads. I wanted to try and build a hunting knife that maybe a hunter 50+ yrs ago might have purchased and carried in the field. Had to be carbon steel, which I prefer anyways, and be void of kydex, rope handles, or anything synthetic. Well I will try to get this pic right the first time. Anyways the blade is made from an old lawnmower blade I tested for carbon by quenching and breaking in vice. It is 1/8" thick, mild steel guard that is made from one of those toolbox drawer locking rods like those cheap craftsman toolboxes use. Hidden tang design with a 1/8" music wire pin through handle. Deer antler handle sealed. I cheated and bought the sheath from Texas knifemakers supply (forgive me :D) Well Dave larsen and anyone else who may remember me,Bruce Evans, I go in tuesday to have my right eyeball removed and to get a prosthetic put in. I had a childhood injury that has developed into neovascular glaucoma and my eye is dying and in terrible pain so I wish today was tuesday cause it is hurting worse. Wish me luck. Cory McAlpin

I do not know if it is geocities or what. 1 time the pic showed and 3 times it didn't. Does this board have a photo hosting site? Oh well just click on my url on my signature and click on knife pics and it is the last knife. I am sorry but I always did have a tough time getting pics to show up. Cory

Welcome back Cory.I am truly sorry to here about your problem, but it is nice hearing from you. Can't see the knife but I'll bet it's pretty nice.Take care, Dave.:)

Cory good luck with your surgery, and I hope your pain eases after you've healed. I know chronic pain can ruin your life, nothing seems right when you're in pain. Good luck and my prayers will be with you.

Meanwhile, I can see you haven't lost your touch, that's a nice looking knife. I hope you get to use it this season. Let us know how that goes. Welcome back, hope to see some more knives from you soon.

Dave

2 years away from making knives,I bet it feels good to start grinding again.Sorry to hear about your Eye.I bow killed a 200 pound
9 point with an 18 inch spread,he is a wall hanger.:)

Nathan I was thinking about it last night. Has it been 2 years. I cannot remember. Wasn,t it summer of 2001 we were in contact? If it was its been about 1 1/2 years. Time escapes me. Good job on the bow kill. I finally bought a nice used martin speed demon with ted nugents autograph on it. Very nice bow. Got a great deal on it. Remember my bow dilema? I haven't been able to do much hunting this year as I cannot keep my eyes open well in bright sun and otherwise my bad eye waters so bad. So I have just taken alot of weekends to be lazy and rest. But shotgun season is 3 weeks away and we will see about that almighty 30 point buck. I will be out there with a pirates patch and a goatee so I will look pretty mean lol. Cory
