The richochet gave my a huge cut in my thumb AND shaveed a patch of hair off my arm in just a few hours of ownership, I love it!!!

This knife came razor-sharp out of the box. Everything is extremely well constructed, the Speed Safe mechanism is very nice....NO, I didn't slice myself opening the knife, I used my thumb to test blade sharpness...oops! There is no play in the knife when open, it is just solid and much lighter than my big CRKT Kasper. The G10 handles are nice...my only complaint is the thumb stud, it's too short and too rough, I wish it was like the ones CRKT uses. Also, the knife is tough to get started opening (before Speed Safe engages), but after 20 openings or so I can already feel it getting a tiny bit easier. The blade looks great and, like I said, is SHARP. I was putting on my shoes and noticed blood on my socks...where did that come from? OH...

I need to watch the Sharpmaker video and figure this thing out, Chang already helped me out a bit (never sharpened before), I need to sharpen the CRKT this weekend after I feel comfortable taking the blade to the sharpener (don't want to mess it up). If the Kershaw Ken Onion were any sharper, my thumb would tremble every time I opened it. SNICK!!!

Hi SVTNate,

I am anxious to see how you like the Sharpmaker. I am a novice at sharpening too and I am thinking about buying the Sharpmaker. I have been looking at the Razor Edge System too but have not had seen many comments on the guides compared to the Sharpmaker. Please let me know how you make out and if you think I should get one.

Thanks,
starchaser

No problem, I am gonna try it out this weekend I think, as long as I find time to watch the video.

So far - CRKT Kasper (the big one), Kershaw Ken Onion Ricochet.

SV< aint that one fine knife!!! I maybe buy 3 knives a decade, and the Ricochet is definitley my next knife purchase!

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms!!!

Start sharpening first with a cheap knife or a kitchen knife. Once you've done that successfully you can try your KFF. They say the Sharpmaker's easy. Good luck.

Good chioces on both sharpener and knife. Watch the video and get one of your old kitchen knives and practice along with the video the first time. After that you should have no problems.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.
