From my fun job, however it stopped being fun so no real heart break there. I decided to have a celebratory dinner instead of getting down. So went and got a steak and loaded potato and yada yada yada I'm impressed how nicely this 11 cuts through a porterhouse. I figured it would be a little more difficult than it actually is.

Sorry about the job that sucks. Bright side you had a nice porterhouse and a nice knife to cut it with.

I'm sorry to hear that but at least you're "walking it off" well. Good luck and enjoy that beef!

I got canned a while back(2 years or so) from one of my jobs. Kinda caught me by surprise, and put me in a funk. Later that week I told my worthless boss at job #2 to stuff it. 2 jobs in 1 week, my personal best. I hated both of em, and it was liberating. I ended up with my current job that I love, and back in school to get an even better one :D

Good luck with a new job.

I have come to the conclusion that I'm gonna be fired about every five years -- not for cause, but through the ripple effects of mergers, acquisitions, and a bad economy. A friend of mine helped me develop the mindset that I should think of every job as temporary and it helps. I also tend to look ahead for my next landing place and will jump if I see it. I like my boss and co-workers but feel no loyalty to the company.

Sad but true. Otherwise, you fall into the trap of treating job loss like its a divorce, instead of the simple business transaction corporate America thinks it is. By getting emotional about it, you let the profit and loss guys and HR idiots rent space in your head for free.

I still have my career job. This was my job that I do for fun. I was an assistant chef for a restaurant in downtown St. Louis.

And yes I did enjoy a fantastic piece of beef. I was really impressed by the Bk-11. It was a bit thicker than my normal "steakhouse" knife (Kershaw Leek) but it cut so easily.

Less time at work, means more time to play with your 11 :) Next time get some pictures! Beef and knives make a good combo.

This is exactly right.

freeeeeeedom :)

sucks, but its fun too...

you probably know the drill. get the resumes out, the internet is great for that, hitting the pavement is often a waste of time, but tell your friends. word of mouth rules.

then, you know, turn off the phone, and sleep late a few days. get sassy.

then later, don't forget to get up, shower, shave, and establish that routine, be it days or weeks til your next thing.

funny things with jobs: there's almost always a next thing.

You are lucky you have your career, you don't want to be unemployed now, it's bad out there. I've been looking since last March, and I was on Workers Comp before then so it's been almost two years since I have worked... Real rough... Good luck finding something else fun! :D

I hate to hear people loosing there jobs and yet the Obamaniacs say the economy is getting better my company laid off 18 yesterday that's big news for a small company 18 people=3 mini supply vessels we are are down to 21 now we had 58. Thank you Obama

Chameleonbear,

Sorry bout the job. Been outta work 3 months myself. Glad to see you are taking the loss in stride...strangley, so did I. Don't get down, stay strong.

Standing by...Bart

So, no pics from yesterday, however tonight is the rest of the steak, with a loaded potato, red beans and rice, mac and cheese, and green beans.

ImquisitorLord, Bartman... Sorry you guys are out of work. It sucks, however I still have my interpreter job, I still deliver pizzas, I still have my security job, and I still have my chauffeur job. Yes I have quite a few jobs still.

I have been taking a couple days off. Today I went shopping with a "lady friend" for some new clothes. Then I went and played PS3 and now I'm eating supper.
