We got notified via local radio station to HIDE... NOW!

Someone saw a tornado about 10 miles south west of here (Andover, Iowa); I'm at in Sabula, Iowa. Southwest about 20 miles from here there are flipped over trailer homes, and gas leaks. I had my new BUCK VANGUARD already strapped on, and my orange Kershaw Ken Onion in my pocket.

Grabbed candles I had on kitchen table, flashlight, extra smokes, soda i had in my hand, jacket, phone and hid under house... need to clean down there sometime till all was clear. I'll be making a crash/bug out bag for next time fyi ! They set the tornado sirens off twice after I was under cover.

Here's what we're seeing so far on media tonight:

So with under 2 minutes to grab n hide.. could you? What knife/knives would you have on you?

First, that's a surprisingly nice-looking combo. If only you had a gold-colored clip for your leek. ;)

I wouldn't worry about knives so much, but if I had the chance I'd certainly grab large fixed-blades, if only because they're expensive and I wouldn't want them blown away. I would, on the other hand, grab as many lights as I could—I'm not a light nut, I just know from experience that in the aftermath of any disaster they'll be more useful than any knife more complicated than a Swiss Army knife.

Thanks for the compliment :) ... I'm still wearing them sitting here typing. I've been around farms/ horses/ critters.... when "it" hits the fan... A good sharp knife is a life saver!

I don't have any expensive knives :( yet; but I sharpen my own. I like to drool over at the fiddleback section a lot :P

I got lights... trust me :P

staying up tonight.... watching round 3 come thru seems a ton better than that first wave that had us all hiding. Should be here in about 20 minutes.

Best of luck—I'm sure you have more stashed by now. See you on the other side.

I know wha you mean. I live in Fort Worth where for the fist time in my life I have had to worry about tornados. Had a couple small ones this year and one big one near my moms house in Garland/Richardson. Creepy when the sky goes black and the weather gets nuts.

They say we had 11 tornadoes in eastern Iowa/ western Ill. last night.. Lots of them around the Quad Cities and north.. I'm 50 miles north of the Quad Cities fyi :O
