Got horn?

I've been impressed by the buffalo horn handle on my GEC Conductor. I'm thinking of getting a White Owl in this same material. I was hesitant at first, because I have read reports of horn shrinking and not holding up well in humid conditions, so I would be happy to see any photos of old or well used horn handled knives.

I don't know so much about wet conditions I think it's dry that can cause more problems with this material.

I'm a bit wary of it after the experiences I've had in this dry environment, shrink and warp. However, I've heard it said that it all depends on how the horn ha s been cured and stored prior to working. Problem is, how do you know it's ben properly prepared? Having said that, I've seen pictures of Sheffield knives shod in horn and in fine fettle after a century plus.
