Hey guys, so for Christmas I was given a $25 gift card to Sports Authority and they have some pretty good knives, some Kershaw, Spyderco, Benchmades, and Cold Steels... so I figure maybe I could find a deal with after holiday sales. I go in today and as soon as I start getting close to the display I see they have a larger Spyderco then I remember from last time, as I get closer I can see it's and Endura and then I see the price tag "$39.97", sweet deal I think. So after the guy workin helps another customer I ask to see the knife (and get ID'd; no complaints) and then I ask the man if they have any instock "nope that's it". So after hearing the last customer getting 10% off since it was the display model I figure check it out, the knives perfect except for a few finger smudges. Tell him I'll take it and he finds the package for it thats marked %69.99, nice. He takes it to the front and I keep lookin around and see a sign "25% off Cutlery" So needless to say I got my perfect condition Endura for $28.60. I know it's not the newest model because he told me it was being discontinued and its not the VG10, its got the ATS 55 blade and FRN handle with the Boye dent. I believe this is a 2001 if anyone can confirm. Sweet deal guys, I suggest to any of you lookin for a deal on a Spyderco or others listed above to check Sports Authority. I'm happy. Only slight downside is its 50 50 but I kinda wanted it for times when I need serrations. Sorry for the long post.

Sometimes, it helps to be in the right place at the right time. Congrats. You got a good one.

I got an SA gift card, wend to check it out this morning, they didn't have anything good in stock. I guess I'll try another store nearby.

powells85, I see you're in NJ as well. What store did you go to?

My local SA is going out of business. I might need to go check on any good knife deals.
Thanks for the heads up. :)
Good deal on the Endura. Excellent knife.

I didn't even know that the Sports Authority carried knives and I would never have guessed they carried Spydercos and Benchmades Thanks for the heads up :)

the only knife-related items worth a darn at my local Sports Authority are Gerber, Ka-Bar & Cold Steel. oh, and Leatherman. no Spydies, no Benchies... DANG!

abe m.

You are lucky. My SA wanted to sell me a display Benchmade for higher than MSRP! They couldn't find the box, and it took them about 15 minutes to find the price they wanted. I will never be going back to that store, at least to buy knives that is.

I work in retail, and my general rule is that if I can't find a price quickly I give the customer the benefit of the doubt. Especially in a case where they are buying a display piece, or otherwise slightly used/damaged item. If this means that I am loosing some money on the deal so be it, I am more likely to gain a repeat customer, and the manager where I work agree with me too.

I went to the Wayne Sports Authority by the Willowbrook Mall. And the endura must have been in storage cause I was there 2 weeks ago and did not see it, so it was only handled but in perfect condition. I plan to use the knife anyway, so nicks and scratches will happen. Oh yea, it is razor sharp... trust me!
