and i love it!!
I got the Alox version, and made a box weave lanyard for it.

And then turned around and ordered an Alox Farmer.

As corny as this sounds, i wouldnt have imagined that i would have been turned on to slipjoints. now a sak is in my right pants pocket all the time and my fav edc's take turns on my left pants pocket.

Ive had small vic classics on my keyrings for at least 20 years, but ive really had a good time dinking around with the bigger ones.

Congrats John.

I bought a used Wenger standard issue a couple years back. Great knife.

Oh yeah, got a farmer too ;)

Congrat on the SI. It's one of the nicest SAK's you can own, as well as the most useful. A few basic tools to use and very little of what you don't need. I love mine. I dare say, it one had just a Wenger SI, that could be all the knife you'd need to get by. If you wern't a knife knut, that is.:)

The SI in a pocket and a classic on the key ring make a great edc combo.

They are nice knives. I have one from the late 8o's and it is a strong and solid work horse. It is all the knife I really ever need but it has never been all I ever wanted. I tend to reach for the cellidor models most of the time but alox saks are really nice. Enjoy it, you have a very useful and classy pocket knife.

Agreed. A Wenger SI was my constant companion for a long time. I've had mine for about 20 years. Almost unheard of today but, the screwdrivers on the SI were perfect for tearing down desktop PC's. Back when video cards, modems, network cards and memory were constantly being swapped.

I've got one that I picked up at Gander mountain a few years back on clearance for $15 and our has been my go to knife just about everything.

I bought a Wenger Standard issue Swiss Army knife several years ago and in my humble opinion it is a nice knife.

The Soldat is amazing. i love the fact its very light on actual implements, but loaded with uses. the awl is my flint striker and the can opener tip is one of the best phillips tips ive ever used

I too use the Wenger Standard Issue as my everyday knife. I also have more Wengers than Victorinox knifes, can't really understand that but it seems like I run into Wengers more often. I have grown to prefer the blade shape more and some of the tools I find a bit nicer on Wenger.

The wenger si is a very nice tool. Here's mine with an added scissors layer.
