Hey Duck!
I got one now!
HeeHee!

All I need now is the JKM in antler......
(Sharpening my shark teeth...)

Good for you Danny! Don't recall ever seeing one, (or more likely blanked out the whole thread where it was offered because I missed the snag!) I have seen in antler:

1) Napoleon Sword
2) 16.5" Chiruwa AK (at least 3 or 4)
3) JKM
4) Kumar Karda
5) 14" BDC (sweet!)
6) 10" BDC
7) M-43 (really nice)
8) Sarge knife

Anyone know of any others? I have #'s 2, 3, 4 (2 copies, one Kumar and one Sher), and 8. Would love to get more. At this point I am thinking of just sending my first kerambit off to a knife maker friend of mine and asking him to put some smooth stag handles on it for me. The blade is beautiful but the wood is really dull and uninspiring, so no loss there. I have a second slightly smaller sized Kerambit with some very pretty USA wood that I do want to keep.

There have been 6 or 8 chandan handled ones as well that are very pretty, but I have missed out on those so far.

Regards,

Norm

I know where at least one antler-handled Napoleon is. It actually starred in a few of my films.

I've been meaning to get a JKM, KK or Sarge in antler (or even wood or horn at this point) but I never seem to be fast enough on the draw. One day...

Danny, can you put up a pic of that kerambit? I'm guessing that it looks pretty nice.

Satori, unless I'm mistaken, there is only 1 Napoleon in antler and you has it! I was broke that day but remember your snag very well. I do have a nice one-of-a-kind Napoleon myself in some kind of beautiful USA wood but I'm not sure what type of wood it is. Looks almost like a fruitwood, or ? I should post pics for the experts to tell me what it is.

Tnx.

Norm

That's two one-of-a-kinders I have. I suppose it's time to stop complaining about "them sharks" and to start complaining about "us sharks."

I also have a slightly shorter Napoleon with American wood - not sure what kind. Both Napoleons get used, the wood handled one more frequently.

Speaking of which, I just finished an etch on the wood handled Napoleon...I won't swear by it just yet, but I'm 90% sure there's a temper line. It will probably take another etch/polish cycle to bring it out to where the camera will see it. I can barely see it myself, and only when the light is perfect. If it's where I think it is, it starts about halfway up the edge and continues nearly to the tip - a good location for a smallsword.

Still no luck on the Manjushree unfortunately. I'm going to try something less aggressive tomorrow.

To keep the thread from derailing - how about them antler handles? Anyone crack one yet?

Don't think this stuff will crack easily! Seems to me to be pretty dense material, and is well fitted to boot.

What's your other one-of-a-kind Satori? (I apologize if you already mentioned it and I wasn't paying attention.) Just curious, thanks!

The Tez Darr. I still don't know what to do with it, but what the heck...it looks cool.

Hey...now that I think about it, that's technically antler too...

I'm with you Norm. Methinks the majority of the American antler is either shed antlers or very well seasoned. Either way good ol' American antler is damned hard too beat! :D  :D
It may not be as pretty as the Indian Sambar Stag but it is extremely stable and durable as all Hell!!!!

And if, just If, it should be really slick and hard too hang on too either wet or dry a little work with a Dremel tool and a good carbide burr will soon fix the problem.
Just be sure too anchor the blade and handle securely and using BOTH hands on the Dremel proceed to "jig" the antler in a pattern pleasing too yourself.
Some judicious work with different stains or leather dye and you can color it nicely too.
You can also put it into hot oil in a skillet and heat the antler just enough for the oil too soak in for another nice antique effect.
I've mentioned using the hot instant tea with the lemon already added as another staining method before.;)

I know there are at least two antler-handled seaxes floating about. :D

The USA antler stuff is especially special. We're collectors, and this is "limited edition" stuff.

The antler just sticks in your hand- unique feel. Hope to see more....

Was an antler Sarge just the other day.... first one gone.

Excellent list, Norm. Raghorn's right 'bout the seaxes....

Lucky to have even one of these. So be happy if you have.

Must be grateful for what one has or the Infinite takes it away.

I really liked the antler pieces too, and am kicking myself for not picking up some of the larger knives if I had a shark's chance at them (can't remember). I only have the smaller ones (Sarge/JKM/KK/Kerambit):
Group Pic!
They're a bit whiter than shown, can't get the colors right unless you want a flash to bleach everything. I can't find any more lights around the house tonight . Of these, I like the Sarge the best, just such a friendly little knife. The KK is second and will do the traditional "big knife" stuff. The JKM is the newest, I haven't figured it out yet. So far I feel it's an an awkward spot between big and small, not fitting in either. I love that dangler sheath though, held firm but slides in and out like greased lightning.

The Kerambit for me is kind of a waste, as the Kerambit shape and me just don't agree on anything. Very nice knife and handle though. Same with the wood one I have from the first run. I grabbed the antler one out of one-off induced shark instinct... If anybody wants to talk trades for other semi-rare khuks, I am open to suggestions!!

I had 2 other antler Sarges pass by, one of which is seen here: 3 Sarges. That one (middle) had a very thin and round handle, I felt it didn't give enough reference to where the edge was. I gave it to a small-handed friend who seemed to like it.

Hey Yall,
Anytime you want to, you can put antler and any other desired handle materials and ship it to Birghorka.
Where do ya think the antler they are using these days comes from?
(at least some of it)
I have the address if you need it.
Be proactive!!

Raggie, AA - That makes at least three...I sure like mine! :D

Regarding the Napoleons...yours with the yin/yang are nice...mine was the first and has no such decoration.

Oops, Nasty, me no have antler seax- I wish!

By "these" I meant any of the antler stuff.

I do have 3, 4 & 5 on the list and wish I had 6, 7 & 8

and the seax... only 2 known.

Hey, wait- that reminds me- gotta check that lotto ticket I bought...
