So this morning I wake up to find my wife has a gift for me. Considering there isn't an occasion right now for her to give me something I wasn't sure what it might be. So, to my surprise I open it up and in the box is my new ESEE 4! Upon asking her what it was for she just told me it was a "just because" gift. Needless to say I have an awesome wife!!

Now, about the knife. I'd been looking around at them but was gonna just save up and get me on later on in the year. This is my first ESEE and all I can honestly say about the knife is just "wow". I am just totally blown away by this knife. Just looking it over I cant find anything I don't like about it. Its actually a bit bigger than I expected but just right for most anything I will be doing with it (camping, hunting).

I have a feeling it just opened a door to a whole family of ESEE knives....

Congrats on the 4. It's a great all-around knife. Very capable of doing pretty much anything. It's my favorite bushcraft/survival type knife.Lots of mounting options with the molle back too.
And with that warranty you got no worries:thumbup:;)

It is the whole kit with the molle back and molle locks. Also love the fact its not all packaged up to look pretty. Gonna go good with my BK9 for some of our camping trips this year.

Although I do see the 6 being my next purchase :D

congratulations on a great knife. the pouch for the 5 and 6 fits on the 4 too just gotta squeeze the bottom holes in a little. Its a great all around knife have fun using it.

take it easy

Excellent choice. My favorite Esee's are the 3,4,and 6.
The 6 is my "carry-only-one" knife.

My 4 and 6 are my most used knives by far...out of over 50+ knives;)
The BK-9 always stays lashed to the bottom of my pack. The only reason I take it over the Junglas is it's a little more compact.
My wife doesn't buy me knives...as I have too many. Your a lucky guy!

4 is a good knife. Just the right size (IMHO) The only thing I found, was the stock micarta handles were a little small.

I pair mine with the BK 9 too. Plus a Hatchet and a SAK and ... good to go.

Congrats on the new blade (and having a cool wife)

Love the handles on that BK9 cobra. Did you make them yourself? Thought about getting the micarta grips but something about the custom wood handles on that knife just make it look...right.

And she isn't exactly fond of my newfound hobby but she knows its something I enjoy so she supports me in it.

I'm itching to get it out and use it. Gonna be doing some fishing Saturday as long as the weather is good so I may end up taking it (just gonna be walking the banks of a pond mostly...probably wouldn't take it in a boat for obvious reasons). The pond has got some really good spots close to the bank where the largemouth tend to congregate so hopefully it will make for a good trip.

Thanks. Yeah made them out of Teak. Same as the 4. Here's my BK 2 with them too. I had a nice stick of Teak soooooo ... (LOL)

Swing on over to the Becker Forum - lots of good ideas for wood handles.
Couple guys did some tutorials. Pretty cool.

Enjoy your new toy !

What hatchet is this? I have been looking to get a new one and I like the looks of this one... I want a longer handle though...

Congrats! I can't wait.. I've got 1 in the mail.

My missus doesn't grumble about the purchases and I already think I'm lucky! You. Are. Truly. Blessed.

Husqvarna Hatchet. $39. Great LITTLE hatchet. make no mistake it's small,
12" handle, 1 1/4 lb. head, But chops like crazy. I was looking for a smaller/light one. Couple on line places have them - there's a 16" version too

Everybody is congratulating you on your knife, well, I'd like to congratulate you on your wife!! if I wasn't already married to a great woman myself, I'd be asking if yours had a single sister! ;)

Thanks man! Yeah 12 is too small for me and 16 maybe be too but maybe not... I will check it out...
