I got my Commander today

(my wife is such an angel). WOW! I really like it. The fit is terrific and I was glad to see that the back of the handle is open for ease of cleaning (I must have overlooked this in any pictures I saw). The lock consistently locks into place right at halfway across the blade. It is a Y2K production run and has the new grind on the tip, which looks out of place because the grind of the blade bevel doesn't follow the same lines, but I like this tip more than the older style. I love the WAVE, and it also opens extremely well with snap (centrifugal) opening. The lock engages at the same spot regardless of how I open it. One thing I found curious is that there is no production number anywhere on the knife other than the "2000" for the year. Hmmm...

My only complaint is that I would like it to be a bit bigger, but I guess that is what the custom shop is for. My only modification will be a Blackhawk Industries lanyard.

By the way, does Ernest give preference to military and law enforcement on his customs?
If so, what is the wait on those?

Scott475--

In regards to military priority on Emerson orders, what I have seen isn't promising. I ordered a Rhino in July of '98 while I was on active duty, and was quoted a delivery time of november of last year. I called when the due date had came and went, and was told to expect to wait at least another year or two. I must say, I'm not impressed. I got the military discount on my invoice, but what good is that if I never get the thing? At this rate, they'll be pinning on my captain's bars when I get the knife (and I'm a sergeant now!)

My 2 cents....

Ryan
