I wasn't expecting to like it. I had a gen 1 0550 last year and I got rid of it. It was too bulky. Flash forward, I have owned an xm-18, a couple Sebenza's, one of which is a 25 and several other folders and fixed blades. Sometimes perspectives change... I traded a fixed blade for this 0550 even though I didn't really want it, but it was the fairest offer I got so I did the deal. I used the 0550 right away.
Today is the first 70 degree day since last September in St. Paul, MN. (The 29th actually, I know because I got married that day). I thought it would be appropriate to open a portable/patio fire pit that we got as a wedding gift so the wife and I could have a little fire and some cocktails in the patio. Well, those things come in boxes and cardboard is decent kindling. I gave the honor of the job to my new 0550. I have to say, it handled it well (of course) but the interesting thing is, I might make this one a keeper. I cut the box into about 50 strips of cardboard and stropped it back to shaving sharp in 2 minutes flat. Good job, ZT! You won me over.
