Got my 112 back from the spa today

When I saw the mail today, I didn't even have to look at the address on the box to know my 112 got home from the spa. :D It felt like Christmas opening the box to see what it looked like. I was starting to wonder how long it takes to get a knife back from the spa. This Thursday will have been four weeks since I sent it out.

The new factory edge is as sharp as my new 110. Buck did a great job removing the dings and scratches. However, they didn't get them all. I'd say about 90% have been removed and that makes me very happy. The blade still has the slight pitting, but I was expecting that after reading the forum. It doesn't bother me. The knife looks so much better now. Buck did a wonderful job.

I know we all love pics, so I took a bunch. First, are a few before pics. I took photos of both sides, but you can't make out the dings on the other side. My camera didn't catch them too well. The brass was pretty banged up all over. So, I'll just post some pics of the one side and top.

The brass after the spa has such a shiny mirror finish. I thought I did a good job with Blue Magic, but this is even better.

Looks like another terrific job! I have a small pile of knives I'm considering sending. A 112 of the same era is among them. I might just have to get them moving sooner rather than later.

Very nice!

It's good to see the company keeping all of these old battle-worn knives in good shape for the customers.

I have a couple I have been wanting to send in, just have not gotten around to it....

Thanks for the pictures and congratulations; and thanks to the folks at Buck for the great service on their products!

Thanks guys! I really am happy with it. These shiny Buck knives have really made me obsess about the fingerprints. That's why I keep the blue microfiber cloth around, so I can remove the prints frequently. :D

Looks great. Are you going to put it away or use it? DM

I'll probably use it for light duty stuff (that's mostly what I need a knife for anyway). I don't want to get it all scratched and banged up again. I've got other knives that I'm willing to sacrifice if I have to for the dirtier, more demanding stuff.

Does Buck also treat the wood during the spa treatment process? The wood looks like it has a slight sheen to it now. I don't remember it having that when I sent it in.
