Well it finally came yesterday, my Appalachia Special with Olivewood Scales. A while back I decided I wanted to try one of John's knives. After looking at his page and going thru quite a few threads I was thinking of getting a Rule #9 or a Slim Necker. Then I saw the link to Grizzle Leather and saw the Appalachia Special, I knew immediately that was the one, and I couldn't believe it was available. Usually when I really like a knife it's gone or never available again.
So after a whopping one day of ownership I can say I'm really impressed. For me the size is perfect for what I wanted and the hand fit is excellent. The "not to be around much longer" mirror finish on the blade makes photos very difficult.
The silky smooth handle is a joy to hold, the attention to detail on this knife crazy. It's heavy but in a good very balanced way and the Olivewood is gorgeous. The sheath was an added bonus for me, it's perfectly formed over the shape of the knife, the edges are smooth and solid and Ryan put on a Dot snap loop for me.
Thank you to John and Ryan for an amazing collaboration.!! And by the way, Ryan and Kay Grizzle are great to deal with..
A few quick Pics..
This morning I decided to add an under the belt lanyard for carrying.
