Well, I finally resolved my computer issues and can now give credit where credit is due!
I spoke with Joe Estrada a number of months ago about getting an AR but there were none to be had. We kept in touch and he made a point of letting me know when they finally arrived by sending me an email and then he held one aside for me. He even asked me to call him when it arrived just to be certain that everything was AOK.
Joe is a great guy and I would deal through him again in an instant! Thanks Bud!
Now... About the AR. When it first arrived, I must admit that I was slightly nonplussed. It seemed impossibly large for a pocketknife. I mean, when I got my Emerson Commander, I thought to myself, "Now this is a big knife." But when I opened the AR, big took on a whoooole new meaning.
As a matter of fact, it was so big that I wasn't sure I liked it. Sounds funny, but there it is. As a matter of fact, I can remember somewhere in BFC I posted that I was certain that ARs were fine knives, but I didn't care for a sharpened crowbar for my folder. But anyway, as this is a user, I reserved judgement until I had carried it for a couple of days.
So... I did.
And the more I handled this beast, the more I liked it. And I am happily eating my words. Mick, Duane... You guys have made a phenomenal tool. I really can't find fault with it. I thought that one of the best features you included in this knife was the size of the choil. It is just a little added protection and ensures that if the lock should fail, you are NOT gonna lose a finger or two. Personally, I swear by liner locks, but they can fail under the right set of stresses. This really is a well designed knife. One really cannot appreciate it until one carries it around and uses it for a couple of days. It actually fits the pocket well (albeit a little less space-efficiently) and has a very satisfying heft. Well done guys! And thank you!
