well this beauty arrived today.. :) the BCNW-01.. i must admit, it is much nicer than i expected.. this thing rocks...even the misses loved it.. hopefully she doesn't try to steal it..
i managed to snap some pics before it got dark.. i can't wait to get this out in the woods...

i have really liked the looks and design of this knife ever since, Mike posted some pics of it on BF awhile back.. after hearing and reading so many great reviews on it, i decided to go ahead and give it a go...

here's some specs, as stated on the BCNW site..

- 5/32" (3.9 mm) thick O1 tool steel
- Rc 59
- 3 5/8" (9.3cm) Scandi grind blade
- 8"(20.3cm) overall length
- Thumb scallops in handle provide extreme comfort and control for side grip and fine carving
- Stabilized bamboo handle

first thing i noticed when i pulled it out of the sheath, was the BCNW logo etched on the blade.. i have not seen this on any of the other knives, i have seen pics of..

here's a close up.. i love the logo.. i think it's really cool..

spine shot.. the 5/32 thick O1 combined with the bamboo scales give the knife a nice solid feel.. it's a little heavy compared to other woods knives i have, though it doesn't feel too heavy when in use...

i have Medium sized hands and after seeing how thick these scales were in other pics, i had wondered if they might be a little too big.. they weren't at all.. the knife feels great in the hand... i love the bamboo scales...

the thumb scallops are such a cool feature, your thumb nests right in there perfectly..

the knife came pretty darn sharp, i was impressed...

it came with a nice JRE sheath, which was a little on the snug side.. so i ended up wet corming it a bit to make it easier to get out.. i later added a small lanyard as well..

next to my BHK "boat tail scandi".. they're a wicked sharp pair..

i loved the BCNW logo so much i ended up getting a shirt from Mike too... got to represent...

thanks for looking... i'll try and get some woods pics up soon..

That's a very nice, sturdy knife. I handled one not long ago, it really is very comfortable. That one had no logo on the blade, this must be something new.
Looking forward to some in action pics.

i worried the same thing about the handles and its kept me from ordering one. i am glad you like it and i might just have to go ahead and try one

I just got mine as well... My bamboo has a little "Rougher" finish than yours, yours looks smooth. I will put some photos of mine up tomorrow.

G'day Mike

It looks like it has a substantial handle that would be comfortable in extended use :D

Kind regards
Mick

This is why bushcrafters must strive for virtuousness.....because guilt leads to heavy heart and nobody wants to be humping one of them!

Good stuff mike! Glad you like it, I'd have felt bad if you didn't. I also dig the emblem, mine is unmarked. Your opinions thus far seem to mirror my own.

thanks for all of the great comments folks... i am really liking this knife... i'm sure it'll see a lot of use...:)

Would this be too thick for small hands?

EDDAKA- i have fairly small hands... it doesn't feel too big at all...
