Man, I really like these TWEENERS! Great little knife!
Pics in a minute, its sitting in the kitchen sink with citric acid on it...coating going BY-BYE! Same with my Machax...I skipped the etch job...after thinking about it...I like a simple, clean, carbon steel with natural patina look best...so thats what my baby is gonna get!
ALSO!
AND!
My new old stock favorite has just got a major face lift! Can someone say "BK7 Bushcraft"
Like I said...group shots later tonight...
Man...I loved my BK7 before...its never leaving my side (or atleast my truck during the day) now!!!:thumbup:

I just cut out some rubber liners for the BK16, the handle is a bit thin for my canned ham hands..so, I am jumping up to the normal BK nuts and bolts in stainless. This will eliminate the need for the 9/64 allen wrench also.
Should look good. Have the pics up in about 2 hours....
IPA is my secret weapon as I pull this off all while the family is here........:D

EDIT:
The rubber liner idea is gonna work, but the other allen head screws are proud of the handle slabs..so I am going to the hardware store, and I will just get some longer bolts...then it should be good to go.
I was also pleasantly surprised to find the MACHAX with a nice stone washed finish under the coating! sweet!

BK7 with the extra steel missing! Now I can choke up in the blade with ease! I also hit the spine on my machine, this thing throws sparks like a low rider now!

Well that's just mean. All tell, no show. :p

Can't wait to see the results of your modding madness.

Let's see beer, Beckers, yup that about covers it! Looking forward to your pics

Brothers and sisters...I just finished the mods...and got a phone call. I have to head out.
Pics in the morning, but man oh man. I really like the Machax and BK16 with the blades stripped.
I left the coating under the Machax handle...just for the heck of it...
I will not leave you hanging much longer. BK7 magic, let me tell you.

Not to thread Jack but got mine today too along with a matching Godspeed taco sheath! Perfect timing. The bk16 is the just right in size. Thanks Ctanner for the sheath.

Here is a tabletop pic. As you can see I'm just relaxing with a few beers and playing with sharp objects.

How do you like it.
I really like it overall. I will say that I have always really liked flat grinds, but sometimes the edge needs love with a flat grind, and with my BK16, this was the case. It spent about 45 hung over minutes this morning profiling the edge. Its MUCH better now. After I finished that, it was time to cook!
Everyone got a big breakfast this morning, Steak and Potato with onion and red and green bell pepper with eggs over the top! Salt, Pepper and Ketchup...yummy!

So...whats up, no body likes the BK7?

I think the BK16 is great. This will be my knife on my belt next weekend when I go camping. Will drag along my BK9 for the wood processing but too big to have on my hip all the time. Plus big knives draw too much attention here in lovely California. BK16 will fly a little bit under the radar. I have to open carry fixed blades in this state because of highly restrictive laws that do little to protect anyone.

I have an unsued BK7 but it never really interested me. I guess I bought it just to see what all the fuss was about. I do like that you took the ramp off yours. Looks cleaner like the BK2.

very nice steel. how did you remove the thumb ramp on the 7 and make the notch? was it just a file? looks real good. thanks for sharing

I used a bench grinder and a vertical belt sander. I took it as close as I could on both sides of the blade on the grinder..keeping the blade cold during the process, using cold water in a bucket and constant dunking. If I can't press my finger in the steel right next to the grinder, its to hot IMO.
I like the handle much better with out the "index finger annoyance" as I like to call it. The thumb ramp was just OK to me, but I like the flat spine better...I knew I would, I did the same mod on a Camillus BK9 about 5 years ago. I liked that one a lot to.
