I've been oggling this forum for awhile now and after a 4 day camping trip I came to the conclusion my 7" kabar is a little overkill for what I do, so I decided (with the help of multiple posts on this forum) to get a bk16. After seeing all the customizations everyone does I plan to do so too.

Here she is

Sorry about the camera phone pics. I'll post more pics as I start the modding, thanks for looking.

Probably my favorite bushcraft knife. Micarta scales and an Azwelke sheath make it even better :D

Im still longing for a 16. Some day soon, but its currently second on my short list.

What pack is that in the background? Sorry for the hijack OP!
email sent to ya, lethal--there is a reason why the 16 is so awesome-its ethans favorite-he has said hes been trying to design this knife his wjole life

Outdoorfamilyman4, what sheath is your 16 residing in? I like that one.

it was a sheath given to me by a friend who no longer had the knife that it was made for. he thinks it was made by Gavko but isnt sure. it was a perfect size for my 16 so i heated it up, stuck my 16 in it and pressed it-the retention isnt perfect but it works until i make another for it

Well, update #1, i put a convexed edge on the bk16. I noticed the factory edge wasn't superb so i reprofiled with my waterstone. The i used a mouse pad starting with 400 grit then 1200 and finishing with 2000 (highest grit i had). Its quite sharp. It's only my second attempt at convexing and it's the biggest blade thus far. Here's a pic, sorry for the poor quality.

Sorry don't know why it double posted, my bad I guess. Anyways the edge is popping hair off my arm no prob. Lovin it!

Sweet blade.
I would buy a 16 myself but it's too similar to my ESEE-4.
The shape of the Becker handle looks like it would be more comfortable in the hand than the ESEE though.

Well, bought some paint stripper at Walmart, guess I'll be waiting until tomorrow to strip the knife. Can't do it all in one day. I'll post pics tomorrow if I get a chance to do it, I want to etch the writing on the blade b4 I strip it.

Congrats! Very nice knife. On my wish list, but several other knives ahead of it for now. But I love the size and, of course, it is a Becker. ;)

The size of the 16 and 17 are near perfect. I bought a 16 for the wife but my daughter stole it. She loves it. I'll eventually get another one, for me, but after the 17.
