So I love it of course but something seemed a bit off and after closer examination I noticed that near the tip, the spine has a very slight hump giving it a semi nessmuk look, though not very visible. But once I knew it was there, its all I see now, lol. But any who, I wish someone would have told me that the alan wrench needed to get the scales off was not a typical size. All my sets go from 1/8" to 5/32" yet one is too big and one too small. I even borrowed a set yet no one had the size which I think if my fraction figuring is accurate would be 7/64"
I was finally able to loosen then with a T-20 star bit that I only found by chance and didn't even know I had. But now that the scales are off I realized how much better the brown ones will look with a stripped blade
So he's off to take a nice long bath in some klean strip and we'll see what happens. I noticed this isn't the typical smooth textured coating of Beckers past, but a rough grainy coating similar to the Ontario Rat/Tak knives. I just hope it all comes off the same. I'm also in the process of having some unique scales made for it that I think will blow a few minds once they're completed. But for now I'm gonna get back to 'work',lol. I'll post some pics in a bit cuz after taking the first pic my batteries dies in my camera.
Okay so here's the order of what I did: admired it in original form for apprx 1 hour
, soaked it in a pan of Klean Strip for about 2-1/2 hrs, after which I was able to peel back like 90% of the coating like a snake shedding its skin, then I washed it thoroughly and scraped off as much of the remaining coating as I could. After it was nice and dry I started in on it with some 100 grit for about 5-10 mins continuous sanding, then I went up to 220 grit for another 15 or so mins and finished it off with 1000 grit wet/dry for another 10 mins. Its not real shiny but it has that nice dull satin-ish look, though before the sanding, it actually had a nice stonewashed style look to it but there were a few blemishes I didn't want to look at so I chose not to leave it like that. I switched to the brown scales until I get the customs back in a couple weeks and I'm gonna try to find some stainless hardware in this ridiculous size
But anyway her are the few pics I was able to get with my battery munching camera before they died. I'll add more when the new scales arrive.

there are a few more pics below.
