I feel like an idiot for waiting so long to get one. This knife feels great and does what a knife is supposed to do.... cut! The sheath really isn't too bad, except that it needs to be a little longer. If the choil is above the kydex insert all is fine, but if you push the knife all the way in it appears the tip would pierce the bottom of the sheath. I ended up kicking my RD7 out of a spec ops sheath and put the bk5 in it.

I don't have that problem with my 5's sheath and I've never heard of that before, either. Wonder if that's a limited issue?

I have seen it before. I think if you call Ka-bar they can send you a new one (if it bothers you)

It is an amazing piece of steel ain't it?

YES! The 5 is a fantastic blade! Glad you picked one up! Been using mine for about everything from small to large blade tasks. It also has been on "de-limbing" duty after I trimmed some trees up. Getting them dressed out to be used in the grill and what not. Its one of those blades you can use all day long and not be tired afterwards.

Anyways, there was an issue with the sheaths having the wrong insert or something like that. Depending on where you bought it you might contact the seller and see what they will do, or just call up/e-mail KA-BAR who I am sure will be more than happy to help you out. OH! and pics are always a must in Beckerland! ;)

I have the same problem with the 5 I got for Christmas. I actually punctured the bottom of my sheath and there is enough tip exposed to cut you pretty well, love the knife though.
