Just came in the mail. It was kind of shocking picking it up after having the BK2 as the first big Becker. This thing just wants to jump out of your hand. Doesn't have the heft of the '2. But I LIKE it!!

The plastic insert to the sheath though...something has to be done about that. Was going to re-mold it with the heat gun but it doesn't want to slide out. Where is it being retained at, and how did you guys get yours out?

Also, I got my Moose-Patina-Kit (Mustard and a Brush), so wish me luck!

Oh yeah...The Wilson wrap on the handle makes the biggest difference ever!!

The Mora and the BK11 turned out nice as well. Will post pics later tonight.

Here's the BK11:

So did I do the Patina right? Some of it is still pretty shiny between the stripes. Did I mess it up?

You've got yourself some quality blades there!

You can't "mess up" a patina. If you want the blade darker, slather on some more mustard. Or try vinegar, or just use them and the blades will patina naturally.

Acidic foods like citrus, peppers, onions, potatoes and red meat will all give a nice looking patina.

And I really like the 9 with the thumb ramp ground off

I too had the sheath problem, so I got a kydex one maid. haha I was still curious about the original sheath, so I cut it up. =] It has been stitched through about 4-5 times on each side, they are close together and about halfway down the sheath, closer to the bottom. I'm sorry if this is hard to understand, for I suck at explaining things.

I decided I didn't like it, and undid all of them but the Necker.

And yeah, I like it without the thumb ramp too.

He's right. There is really no wrong way of doing it. Lots of different methods produce different results. I recommend trying "Rust Blueing". It involves dipping the steel into a near boiling mix of hydrogen peroxide and salt, and scrubbing with steel wool in between dips. It produces some fantastic results.

Nice knives BTW!

Congrats, it looks great! Did you remove the thumb ramp yourself or did it come like that? I might remove the ramp on mine but need more Beckers instead of power tools!:D

The member I traded for it did it (IneedABandAid). Good job too. There's a little notch for a firesteel he included, but there are easier ways to do that.
