1) I now own Six Bark River knives (I plan on selling quite a few soon) and this knife is by far the best I have owned from Bark river. The grind was perfect and the fit and finish was even better. This is the first BRKT knife that I simply stropped and watched it wipe away hair.

2) The sheath is simply the best production sheath I have seen. It is not my style - but the execution is perfect. Simply perfect.

3) The knife is the perfect combination of my Aurora and my Kephart in a smaller package that makes it legal to carry in every state.

I think I am in love.

I dont think, I know I love mine. Great blade huh TF? Best Barkie out there IMO. Mine is an almost constant companion. Whether its deep in the backcountry, or on my mtn bike, or in my lunch cooler at work. Great blade.

Hows that sheath fit on the blade w/o a ramp?

Mine has a ramp, I like the ramp, but I have thought bout grindin it down a touch.

My Gunny arrived yesterday from the good folks at DLT Trading. Good fit and finish. A little smaller than expected but a nice knife.

I thought I would add a comparison shot with other knives. The Gunny in the middle is very similar in appearance to the Bravo 1 above and at the bottom, but a much more petit knife. Blade is shorter but the handle grip length is virtually the same (look at the bottom points of the handle that define the grip). The Laconico HWK has the same blade length as the Gunny but much bigger due to the height of the blade. The top knife is a Fox River which has the same blade length as the Bravo 1. The Gunny's blade height is more similar to the Fox River. I prefer straight spined knives to the curved style of the Fox River, and scales that are close to the blade edge rather than stopping short. Gunny is a nice knife but I would prefer it to be a little less petit. Maybe it is Mike's plan to fit a new one in between the Gunny and Bravo for all of us the buy. Apologies to Talfuchre for jumping ahead.

The Gunny is a 3.75 inch blade - I know that is TECHNICALLY illegal in some states - but I think you have to have an asshole to have it prosecuted.

The rampless fits just fine in the Sharpshooter sheath, it was designed with the two variations in mind.

Yes!! I love my rampless Gunny (Blue/Black g10 with grey liners). It works in the sheath very well. Personally I am very glad I ordered mine with no ramp.

I am looking forward to the review.

It's a Proteus I think. I almost said Sabercat then I realized there was a zipper in the middle.. The Gunny looks to be about the size of an F1. Is it?

Correct. It is a Proteus. A great pack for an afternoon outing. Holds your "survival gear" and toys. I have a water bottle in a rollypolly on the belt. I guess I prefer a butt back to a shoulder pack like my Vesipack fatboy. I don't have an F1 so I can't compare the two.

Same here except mine is black canvas micarta. One of the greatest fixed blades I have ever held.

Hey cssims
I've got both the Gunny and F-1 they are about the same blade & grip length. Gunny is slightly heavier due to the micarta grips, F-1 blade is thicker .180 almost to the point and Gunny runs at aprox..160 at the grip with a taper to the point. F-1 blade is very slightly taller from spine to edge. both knives are beauties. I think a person would have to work very hard to break either knife. :thumbup:Go Gunny

Thanks.

Must resist urge to spend that much money! I was looking at one over at DLT with Wood handles. Must resist urge....

Here is the sheath I whipped up for it:

It is a removable dangler deep pouch buchraft - as thin as I can make it (with double stitching in the welt) and a 1/4 inch firesteel loop. Thick and tough black polyester thread.

Natural finish, simply Leather Balm and Atom Wax in a few thin coats.

I think it turned out well.
