I picked up my Charge Ti today. I read about some complaints from several people about the knife blade being not very sharp or the pliers not fully closing at the tip. Fortunately I couldn’t find any of those flaws. Both the plain and the serrated blades are very sharp and cut paper easily. The pliers close perfectly as you can see on the picture(s). The plain edge blade opens very smoothly, the serrated blade feels a bit more tight to open. The lock up of all the tools works very good, so does the unlocking. It’s very nice to see that the tools don’t clump anymore like they did on my Wave. You just grab the tool you need, open it and that’s it. The scissors sure are smaller than those on the Wave, but they cut very well and despite the small size they feel solid.

The tool also feels stronger in all areas compared to the Wave. If you squeeze the pliers hard the handles might flex only a little bit but not nearly as strong as the Wave’s. I never experienced this as a problem on my Wave, but still the fact that the Charge is ‘beefed up’ is very welcome! The size differences are only minor. It feels about the same as the Wave when I carry it in my pocket. Same goes for the weight.

I personally can recommend the Charge Ti. Of course the Wave is still a good tool, but upgrading to the new Charge Ti is absolutely worth it.

It's a pretty cool tool, I agree. No sharp edge on the handles anywhere and the locking mechanisms for the tools is great. Mine doesn't "clump" as well, which is a welcome improvement.

I like the nylon sheath, although I wished they had sewn their name on the sheath instead of the big, klunky metal plate that is riveted on.

I fully agree. I like the nylon sheath better than the leather one that came with my Wave. The metal plate does add unnecessary weight.

I have a similar feel on my Ti in that one knife opens more smoothly that another one. If you look closely, the line lock is a spring that's compressed until you open it and then it snaps into place to lock that particular tool. I don't think anything can be done to prevent this, just a slight variation in the spring. And, you really have to go looking for it. It's not that noticeable.

the locking mechanism thats engaged by the triangle on the tang of the pliers is crazy (meant to keep only 1 blade open at a time)... some interesting machineing projects were you to ever want to make one yourself....

Does anyone have one with a leather sheath? Or maybe just handled one with a leather sheath? Trying to decide which is "better". Seems that everyone is going nylon.

with wear they will soon be about the same effort to open (the straight and serrated edge that is).

I'm sure of that. It's not a problem at all, I just mentioned it. The serrated blade opens smooth enough.
