Got my eskabar today, and it is pretty awesome. After some quick edge work, I was able to shave arm hair with ease, until I put it back in the sheath. Does anyone else have this sheath dulling issue???

Yes.

It happens, but there still a good working edge on the knife, just not hair poppin' like I like'em to be. After some work skinning bark or beating it through some wood, you'll never notice. Plus, it won't dull it forever. :D

Congrats on the BK14, she's a real tough knife.

Congrats on the great purchase. I think you'll like it. My BK14 was the end of folder EDC because it is just so lightweight and flat, I usually forget that I'm wearing it. It is my go-to knife for everyday cutting tasks, quick little kitchen work, doing the small work associated with firemaking and self defense. I use my SAK in public places and around non-knife people though, they tend to freak out when someone draws a "combat dagger" out of nowhere (read: IWB kydex sheath under loose t-shirt = invisible when sheathed)

BK14 is an excellent knife, you will most definately enjoy it. On the sheath...what moose said.

thanks man. I think that I am going to strip it and put a patina on it, like i did with my BK2
I also dont like the " black tactical" look so I strip mine also. But since I wrap the handle with paracord I left the black epoxy coating on the handle for a little more corossion resistance under the wrap. I also left it under the BK2 scales for the same reason.

My bk-11 done the samething with the sheath so I just made me a leather pocket slip for it and it works great. I carry it around in my slacks pocket and nobody is the wiser.

You should change the title of the thread to "got my Eskabar yesterday" :D

Good choice on the BK14, I finally picked one up recently and have to say it's a great little knife.
