Lucky me, got home today and had two treasures in the mail other than the normal bills. One was my membership card and decal from kniferights and the other was my Dad's Esky. Well, it would've been Dad's except I won't see him till later this week, so score one for Murph! Not long after ordering the Esky for Father's day I decided I would order two more for the gf and myself. He'll get the one that was meant for me because after opening the box I couldn't put this thing down. My first mod will be to cord wrap the handle and maybe ranger band the sheath kind a like SaturatedShadow's SwESsKaBar.

I'd heard a couple people voice rumors that the Esky and Necker are shipped dull. This was not the case for mine. It came in a cardboard sleeve, but when unsheathed it revealed a razor sharp embodiment of Ethan's insane genius for fine ass steel!

I will say that I don't usually have much like for smaller knives. I much prefer heavy weight choppers, but unless I purchase a Necker soon and like it any better then this knife will be accompanying me into the sticks from here on as well.

Congrats on the new blade Murph. Mine also came razor sharp. Shave the hair off my arm right out of the box.

Thanks! Yeah, I was expecting the worst as I took the cardboard cover off.

I've read that a few times myself, about it being dull when they received it. Sure wasn't the case with me.

Sure! Mine was dull too! Could I shave with it? Well sure... But I thought it could be... sharper... AND It can. It can be scary sharp. I went ahead and upped the angle enough to make it sharp, but not 'scary sharp' So it keeps the edge a bit better. But the steel on this is top notch imho. Now grant! I havn't put it through the ringer! And I havn't had to iron out any MAJOR kinks (did cut through some bailing wire with my 2 w/o knowing it. Still that BK-2 scares the shit out of me... bailing wire and it has a slight nick/bend in the edge. It cut like butter! I didn't realize till after it was cut that ''OH, THAT WAS BAILING WIRE'')

can't wait till my EdgePro shows up and my BK 11/14s will be as sharp as Helles. oh yeah.

now, what you SHOULD NOT do is grasp that cardboard sleeve HARD and then draw the knife. we had a guy do that at the show pretty much. "have a bandaid"...

Looking good! I have just found out that gutted paracord works better for me than the stock cord.

I like a little more real estate in my grip. I actually wrapped the handle twice. Once around each section of the handle because it's skeletonized and then once over the whole thing. My trouble is finding a solid way to finish the wrap that's both practical and aesthetically pleasing.

Yeah, I got it from Atwood rope in Ohio. I don't think it's official issue, but it's U.S. made type III. Thanks!

I got some of that 8 inner strand stuff, its HD for sure, but man, its thick. I use regular old 550 USA made stuff, from ParaCord, owned by Wilson Combat. Good enough for Moose hooves. :D

May have to try that stuff out Moose, thanks for the lead!

Wrap it. Your hands will thank me if you have to do a lot of work with it. :-P

I gotta agree with hewhoisiam, it's a comfort thing. I also agree with Idaho Guy about "bare steel appeal", but gotta go with function over form. That's why I'm partial to BK&T's, they flawlessly merge the two concepts.

I always gut my paracord to make a knife wrap, makes a good looking handle and goes on tight...

Esky is a good little knife, I've been using it more and more. Handle is a little small. If the Izula II handle was on the Eskabar .... ("Eskabar II")

The bigger blade of the Esky and the bigger handle of the Izzy - would make a great combo.

Crappy pic for comparison, but the Izzy II handle does give a 4 finger grip.

Think it's time to mod my Eskabar. Just wrapped it quick with the cord it came with.
