Alright, the knife of all knives came today .. it's amazing ... but I have a question.

The very tip of the knife almost looks like it's broken off ... should the blade end in a perfect tip? I would think so for the amount of money that it cost...

My GW has a perfectly finished tip, but the FBM LE doesn't seem to, anybody else experience this?

I'm going to try to take a detailed picture of it to show you guys ...

what do you think?

The delay in getting here probably was caused by a destroyed mail truck !

I'm talking the very tip (1mm) that seems a little mashed.

I tried really hard to get a detailed shot with my digital, but it didn't really want to focus ... I included a diagram to get the idea of shape and size.

Is this what your knives are like or is a little bit of the tip missing? How comparable is the tip of your FBM to a GW?

it wouldnt be hard for you to repair. although ill bet if you send it back they would either replace it or reprofile the tip for you.

give jerry or garth a call, my guess would be that they would like to resharpen it for you.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to send her away, but I'm sure a resharpening would fix the problem. Thanks for your input .. what an incredible knife !!!!

My CGFBMs should be here tomorrow, 3 more knives should definitely show me the variance in the tip and if the LE is any different!

Really need a better pic to tell for sure, but it could be that the edge was not ground all the way to the tip.

Awesome score! And like some of the others already said, give Busse a call, they'll fix it for you:thumbup:

As they said, send it back. They will be more than glad to touch that up.
I have sent one back and they were very quick also. You wont miss it long.

Does customs inspect international shipments? Maybe an inspector jabbed it into something. I mashed the tip on my CG in by about the same as yours by stabbing it pretty hard into a rail road track anvil I have.

Now, I'm not judging...not in the least...I've done some, uh, unusual things with blades. But why, pray tell, would one stab an anvil?

uhhhhh huh uhh huh....'cause stabbing railroad track is cool? </Butthead imitation>. I was frustrated by ruining a nice sharp edge via faulty mousepad/sandpaper technique. It's all sharp and pointy again with very little work. But it's only wood and softer stuff I'll be cutting from now on.:D

I'd send it back to be redone by the factory. That way it does not affect resale value. If you re-profile it yourself, some people may find it not as desirable.

Ditto, as that is actually probably what happened to your knife in the first place. A slight movement while getting near the tip on the belt grinder and there you have it, a blunt tip. Or as others have suggested you could fix it yourself. Good luck either way. My last CGFBM came with a chip missing off of the tang. it tore through the wrapping paper and slammed into the box denting it. (the box) They will both be abusers so It didn't bother me too much. But an LE.......that kinda sucks. Later:)

I definitely wouldn't try to fix it myself .. and I don't think I would care if it wasn't an LE.

I missed the mail today and it looks like some CGFBMs came in! I'll wait till I have and inspect all the knives before I decide what to do next....

Thanks for all the input.

I have found that it is almost impossible to get a Perfect Busse knife. It is just the reverse for Chris Reeve Knives. Wish Reeve made a better chopper. However he would need INFI to up the ante although his A2 is some good stuff.

Alright, the motherload came in ... the CGFBMs are f**king fantastic !! I can't decide which I like more, the beautiful blue/blk G10 or the snakeskin !!!!!

And it looks like the tip of the LE is definitely not like the other knives .. bummer.. guess it has to be sent in .. does Busse cover the shipping?

I'll post pix of all the knives today or tomorrow!
