Well, my Gal as been asking for a good flashlight for a while now, and since I have been eyeing up the Fenix LD20 I figure I would get it and pass on to her my Fenix L2D Q5.
My camera is busted so these are just reference pics.

Fenix LD20
Although not radically different (or even moderately different) there has been some improvements in the LD20 that I feel make this light a nice upgrade to your L2D.
-Crenellated bezel: Fenix did this rather well, they are pretty subtle and hard to notice at a glance. In addition they are smooth and don't seem to cause much tearing in the pocket.
-Octagonal neck: If you are like me then one of the annoying things is to set a light down and have it roll away from you. This is a very nice improvement from Fenix and I am already enjoying the feature
-Textured grip: The LD20 has a more textured grip than the L2D and aids in the retention.
-Stable base: Unlike the L2D, the LD20 can be stood upright on it's base to act as a candle. A nice little perk that is especially useful if you get the diffuser (which i recommend).
-Velcro Sheath: The sheath on the L2D did not have a cover (although it still had good retention imo) but the LD20 added a velcro fold down cover that will keep the light in place. A good addition for those of us who don't want to loose their light in the woods
-Changed output: While both the L2D and LD20 have a max output of 180lumens, the L2D's general output is 12 > 53 > 107. However, the LD20 is 9 > 47 > 94. This gives you great battery life on the lower settings and still gives you the same max settings.
The beam on the LD20 also seems to be more focused, although I confess my expertise on flashlight beam/output analysis is rather poor
Overall, I feel the LD20 is a nice upgrade to the L2D. It may not be reason enough to upgrade (unless you have a convenient reason
) but if you liked the L2D then you will most likely like the LD20.
