Just ordered a rosewood Wharncliffe today. I got a Taylor eye witness kitobe handle clip point a while and it's definitely a basic work knife look and feel which i like. I know it's made in Sheffield where wright is but is the quality the same as Taylor witness?

Got it today! After a bit of turn of good fortune and great service from James and company I ended up getting a snake wood handle model. This is a beautiful knife the fit and finish is great. The only thing I got to get used to is the really tough open and almost scary closing due to the STRONG backspring. Most likely spring will ease in time. There's no gapping anywhere and no wobble. Shaving Sharp right out of box. I'll likely order a michael may soon since I really like this Sheffield pattern. A bit bigger than my clip point Taylor eye witness and definitely a step up in astetics. Overall really like this and interested to see if anyone uses a Arthur wright as a edc.

Arthur Wright knives are notorious for being real nail breakers. All that I own have really strong back springs. They are super nice knives, make some excellent working knives. I have several lambs foot, and a couple of spear points. Some have the second pen blade, some are single blade. I like them all so far, but I do not really "edc" as I change knives almost every day to rotate through my collection so I couldn't speak to long term carry of most anything.

They are great knives but because of the bear trap pull I would only own one I can pinch open bypassing the nail Nick
Love mine and congrats on your new acquisition. Here’s my worker 👍🏻

Agree I likely won't buy another a wright if this one doesn't ease up. My Taylor eye witness was smooth and easily opened but still has plenty of stiffness.

I'm used to them, but they can be near impossible to open sometimes. If you go to post #1 in the Guardians thread, there's a link to a Thread Index, which if you look through it, has a link to posts about easing the pull. Some good advice there

My Favorite Peach Pruner!!!
Before I even knew who A.Wright was, I saw this knife on Ebay, (in the days when you could see who was bidding!), and bought it for Cheap!! It turns out to be a very nice knife, with a firm but manageable pull, and a nicely centered blade and sweet horn handles!! At a hair under 3 1/2", it is very pocketable and useful, though it's mostly a safe Queen!! First A W 1.jpgFirst A W 2.jpg
I have since acquired several "Wrights". most of which I have kept - a few I have passed along, mostly with Horn handle problems! Horn has to be treated correctly to serve as good handle material!! Wrights need careful checking now, but most of their knives are serviceable, and well made! Note this one has a brass, or bronze pivot pin!! (Older knife maybe!!!) Jack Black Jack Black , do you know???

Nice Peach Pruner Charlie 😊 I would think the pin is brass, and probably just what they had to hand 👍

This Peach Pruner in Oak arrived in early January. I've been completely satisfied with it, a nice unusual compact knife. While the pull on this brand of knife is always very strong, the pattern allows the blade to be pinched open with ease. Nicely finished all round, even the back-spring is cut off cleanly- most Wright knives are rather crude in that respect.
