So I picked up this knife at a pawn shop. I have always liked the Beckers. When I saw the price on this I had to get it.....hoping I did not get screwed......$35.

I have spent several hours looking thru this forum and several other sights.....I think I figured out which one it is just want to make sure.....cause I am just that way!

Becker BK3 RESQ/DIVE TUL. I think it was made by Blackjack? That is where I get shaky about it.

Does not have the original sheath

And someone did a number on the bevel, especially on the back side....

So I could use some hints on sharpening it. I have a Ken Onion Work Sharp but not sure that would be the best to use, I do not have the grinder attachment either.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Not screwed.
I believe these were a chisel grind. Beveled only one side.
No expert tho
Good find!

Yes it is a chisel grind, but someone put a bevel on the flat side so I am not sure what to do to fix it.

Can't really tell by the pics. My current BK3 has an edge bevel on both sides, yours may have been from a crappy attempt to sharpen.

Just put a good working edge on it and use it as the good Lord and Ethan intended. See plenty of these all shiny, it's nice to see a user.

A low end pull through sharpener was used on that poor thing...

Just keep sharpening the primary side to raise a burr that can be felt the whole way down. Then just knock it off the back side with a ceramic rod or a few passes on the bottom of a coffee mug/casserole dish. Strop and get her back into use.

Or, if you don't want it... I mean, I can use a nice Christmas Present!
I would even make a nice pair of pants for it!

Just do you know, it is "DIV" tool, not a Dive tool.

Best of luck with your new found addiction.

$35?....
Nice score!!
I'd beat on it for awhile before worrying about a proper edge.

LOL! Thanks for the info.....but no I think I will be keeping this beauty

Nice find. I just scored a used, rusted, Camillus BK3 for $25 no sheath tho. I haven't received it yet but i'm sure it will clean up nice to be made dirty again. Congrats on yours. Sorry to hijack your thread but figured this is a good thread to ask. Does anyone know if the Cam bk3 will fit in the KABAR bk3 sheath?

lol...no worries! I do know that the bk3 that I have is an inch shorter then the 7 inches of the current bk3. You might check the specs of the current one and see how yours measures up!
