I've always been a Spyderco guy and have a few old Case knives as well. Just cannot get over how much more premium the Benchmade Axis lock feels compared to offerings from Spyderco (still love their knives). So I decided to pickup a Benchmade and went last night to look at the Bugout and the Mini Grip. I was for sure going to get one of these two and ended up leaving with the North Fork! Bugout is awesome - just feels too light/cheap - even though I know it's not. Just didn't feel right to me (also a bit too long when in pocket IMO). Mini-Grip is a great knife, but after holding the North Fork there's no comparison there. The NF just feels sturdier and is slightly larger to fill the hand out more but feels the "same size" in the pocket. Didn't even know the NF existed until I saw it and sparked my curiosity. Anyway, happy with the purchase - beautiful knife! However, I cannot ever leave anything alone and wanted to know where I can find some custom scales or if anyone on this site makes them. Any ideas?

Check out Flytanium. I got a set of their copper scales for my bugout as I too felt it was too light for my liking. Not sure if they make any for the North Fork though. Also BladeHQ and DLT carry some offerings from them and Putnam scales.

Thanks guys! LOVE the knife! It's definitely the perfect EDC in my mind. I checked those sources mentioned above, no go on the North Fork for scales...

you might try messing either keyman or doat (death of all things) here on blade forums. you can see work by both of them on the customized benchmade’s thread. they both do beautiful scales

I had the exact same experience. I didn't know the existence of Benchmade North Fork before I went into a B&M store searching for knives like 484 and 556 about 4 years ago. I was deeply attracted by NF at first glance and ended up leaving with one. It has been my favorite Benchmade folder since then.

I'm not aware of anyone making scales for the North Fork. Doesn't mean that there isn't any, just that I've not heard of any. I would think that's because that is one of the alluring factors of the NF, the wood handle, it just looks nice. Nice enough that I really must get one. I mean, I really really do need one you know...

I recently got a north fork as well and have to agree it is a great little edc that feels solid. Good choice!
