Today I received part of my first order of the new Queen line, a regular stockman with cocobolo scales. All I can say is, Wow! The cocobolo is beautiful. The blades are very nicely ground; it looks like the finish was done with leather wheels rather than rag wheels, because the swedges are so sharply defined. The edges are ground very fine, the way I like them. It is brush finished. I have heard someone say that it might be an issue to some people that these are not mirror polished, but I have heard that D2 is difficult to mirror polish and I don't expect it on a production knife. The fit and finish is very good. Now I get to use it to see if they got the heat treat right! All in all a very nice package, it will replace my regulars (Case, Boker, Henckels, Eye Brand, Kissing Crane...you name it, this is a superior knife). Now I can't wait to get the rest of my order!

These sound like very good knives. I am hoping that you will report on your experiences after using the knife for awhile. That will definitely help me in my decision as to who will be the manufacturer of my next SJ.

I ordered the regular stockman in cocobolo and the small stockman in bone. So far I have the regular stockman in cocobolo, the other is still on backorder. I'm really impressed with the blade grind, they really did a good job. I'll let you know how the edgeholding is. I ordered them from empire knives in Erie, PA. I can't find the phone number right now, but I think the e-mail is okc2u@yahoo.com. If that doesn't work let me know and I will look it up for you. The couple that runs empire is Todd and Kim Landree.

Lambertiana, do they have a website link? Also, for those of us drooling at the thought of a D2 stockman, can you post some pics of your new baby?

I don't have a scanner so I can't post any pictures. Empire is in the process of putting together a website. They seem to have a close relationship with Queen; they are at the factory often and meet with the president occasionally. If you want pictures, you can call Ontario Knives and ask for a catalog, 800-222-5233. Or you can go to the other forums, and someone has posted links to pictures in a thread in the slipjoint forum.

Yep, it's me again.... I have checked out the ontario knives site, so far no online catalogue yet. I also checked the "other" knife forum (but I didn't inhale!) There was some nice pics, but no evidence anywheres about prices. Lambertiana, can I be so rude as to inquire how much these fine pieces are? I now know that I gotta have one (or three) so I kinda need to set a budget. I supposedly have a paper catalogue coming from Queen cutlery, but it hasn't arrived yet.:(

impatiently yours, Mongo

Mongo, go ahead, mate. Join the other forum also. They have a
real nice selection to choose from and remember, "One can never
learn to much."

As far as prices one of the advertizers on the other forum is taking
orders now . I think if you look around you'll find others. I will
tell you this........ For what Queen's go for retail the D-2's will be
a screaming deal. A whale of a lot of quality knife at a reasonable price.
I should know I have owned Queen's for decades and they are always
the best finished knives out there.

The paper catalog does not list prices, Queen states that they don't retail their knives, and there is an insert that lists a few of the retailers (although there will be many more). I paid just over $50 for the cocobolo stockman, and the bone versions are slightly higher.
