Got my first Emerson after work today. I am a very happy man...where's something to cut??? It is a Commander with plain edge and stone washed. Absolutely perfect. I even somewhat mastered the Wave. Thanks for letting me get this out. My wife just doesn't understand like you do.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

You came to the right place, Charley! We DO understand! :D Welcome to the madness!

Now you need a cqc-7, a cqc-8, a Gentleman Jim, a Journeyman, ...

.....a Horseman, a Super Commander....

Congrats on your first Emerson Charley!

Congrats on your first Emerson. The Commander is a great way to start off.

Cheers!

The CQC-7 is an essential in my opinion. The 7 was carried by a member of the team that took out Bin Laden, plus it's such an iconic design with such a great history that every collection ought to have one, even if the collector isn't an Emerson fan.

For Emerson collectors, your Commander is a great addition as well! First knife to sport the Wave. Congrats on an awesome purchase!

Amici,
A mini commander for EDC, and at a minimum a commander for field use.. Have one of each, both with black finish, chisel ground, and with standoffs. Just get a ceramic rod, that's the best item to touch up the edge..

Cheers,
Serge

Thanks for the replies. I fell in love with the Commanders blade. I loved the recurve, although I figured I would have a terrible time sharpening it. Then I decided I would get the CQC-7 with the V grind because I thought it would be easier to keep up. End the end the Commander won out and the chisel grind is actually growing on me. I have not had to sharpen, yet. It came very sharp. I was going to use the SharpMaker, but if it doesn't work out I will get a ceramic rod. But the real reason I went with the Commander is that my wife said it was SEXY. You can't argue with that.

I prefer larger knives for EDC and the Commander fits my hand perfectly. I feel it was made just for me. I am totally enjoying it. As for the other models...well, they all look pretty good to me and I am sure some will find a nice home near me soon.

Thanks for having me here...

Charley

I love the stonewashing that Emerson does. I just got a plain edged stonewashed Super Commander and really dig the looks. Congrats and welcome to the addiction.

I recently got my first Emerson as well. It's a mini A-100. My wife doesn't understand either...

A great blade and it's sexy. Nope, can't argue with that!

Regarding the sharpening, I dulled my Super Commander and tried using my Sharpmaker on the recurve and just couldn't get it. I sent it to a member here on the forums, Richard J, and for a $1/inch he sent it back to me slicing toilet paper. Back in business!

I got a mini Commander in trade several months back and wound up getting rid of it because it just really wasnt that impressive to me. But since then in the last 3 weeks I have picked up a stonewashed Horseman and a CQC-15 and I am thoroughly impressed. The Horseman is a great blade but the stonewash finish on the 15 with its unique blade shape just speaks to me. It makes me want to give a full size Commander a shot.

Congrats on your Commander!
