I picked up a user mini cqc-7 here on the exchange, and I think I may be hooked.
As it had been said many times, there is nothing special or remarkable about this knife. The blade steel is adequate, but not exotic, there aren't really any special features like assisted opening, or exotic scale materials, the clip looks pretty plain, its not underbuilt or overbuilt, but just seems perfect.
I disassembled it and gave it a thorough cleaning, and I just need to touch up the blade a bit.
If I could add one thing it would be a flipper, but it is adequate as is.
It reminds me a lot of my crkt m16 I carried for over 5 years, but lost in the ocean. Clearly this is a much better built knife, and made in the USA.

Congrats on the purchase. As most people will tell you, Emersons tend to multiply. My most recent acquisition was a Journeyman but I really want a Roadhouse and am tempted to replace the Mini CQC-7 I sold a while back.

I like the mini CQC7 too, it's a nice size edc. I have learned how to get that chisel grind very sharp freehand and can deal with the "wandering to the right" cuts from the grind, it's not a slicer but will do all of the utility tasks I use it for.

I really like the mini's for EDC. I started in July and am now up to 4 Emersons. The more I carry and use them, the more I appreciate them and the story behind Ernie Emerson.

I was thinking of picking up a lansky for my sharpening needs, will it work on this blade?

Welcome to the club - and so it begins! Once you get one, you immediately start thinking about the next one. I'm working on completing a collection of all the 'mini" and small offerings as to me they are great for EDC. I'm watching Arizona Custom for a custom mini something to arrive so I can put it on layaway. Those customs are just outstanding.

Yeah, I already got another one. A regular 7.
I also got the lansky system, it didn't work well on Emerson, but did great on my other blades.
