Wow! Received my Busse FSH in tan finish today! Man, what a knife! It has mag handle & fits my medium size hands pretty well, so MVF don't worry about the mag handle. Can anyone tell me how to post picture on this forum? Thanks

Hey I got mine today too.

Go to photobucket.com It explains everything step by step.

Very easy.

Wow- mailman was busy today! Got mine too- and the Mag handle feels great so far- may feel differently after working with it, but the shaping makes it feel very secure in any number of positions. I may have to save up for another just to compare the regular handle :)

Now you'll just have to excuse me for a minute- THIS THING IS AWESOME! AMAZING! MASSIVELY MAGNIFICENT!!! My expectations were so high after spending so much time reading about them and looking at the pics that I really thought the reality would be a letdown, but I've got to say once I unwrapped that bad boy I couldn't put it down for a couple of hours! Everything "works" on this knife- it really demonstrates the principle of synergy- the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. The shaping of the micarta is just too cool and functional too. Many different grips and the balance seems right to work with them. Heavy, but you can use the different grips to only feel as much of the weight as you want. The more I looked at it and handled it, the more I liked it and the more impressed I was. As good as the pictures look, they do not do it justice!

I can't believe I'm not even embarrassed to go on like this 'cuz I know you all know what I'm talking about- I am very glad I took the plunge- probably a good thing I don't have more money right now or I'd be sending it all to Jerry.

By the way Jerry, since you read this forum, THANK YOU for putting in the time, effort, and thought it took to make this knife- it is truly a Masterpiece!

Now, with all that said, in the interest of quality control- my knife was not all that sharp (wouldn't shave even with a firm scrape) and even had about 1 1/2 inches of wire edge on it. Don't get me wrong, it's not dull, but I guess I'll get to learn how to sharpen a convex edge a bit sooner than I thought. As far as the "wire", should I use a steel, strop it, or just do the sandpaper on a piece of leather bit?

PS. Please don't get me wrong- even with the edge thing I am totally happy and satisfied with this knife- and the price isn't even an issue for me anymore (and if you knew how cheap I am, that would REALLY amaze you!).

Outstanding. Congrats to one and all. I know the feeling. Busse ROCKS!

m10commnader, Silas, Peter La, MVF congratulations on the arrival of your beloved ones   !

I placed an order for mine yesterday. I would like to ask you for a favor: could you please provide me with the blade thickness measurement that you get right in front of the handle? I was told that it is not 0.25" but 0.22". So, what have you got?

I am looking forward to hearing from you and seeing some pictures of your beauties.

Take care,

George

Hi George, I just checked my FSH it is exactly 0.25" thick. I am trying to post a picture from Photobucket.com but couldn't get it to work!

Thank you for your reply m10commander. As far as the problem that you have with Photobucket is concerned, I would suggest that you give it a shot sometime a little later. At times systems may be running maintenance routines and when they do, they may give you a hard time or not respond at all.

Take care,

George

MVF, Thanks for the great feedback. I will be giving our edge stropper a good beating today!!!! ;)

As for the knife, we are very fortunate to have such a large and diversified Research and Development group (The INFI HOGs). I know of no other group who comes anywhere near the insanity level of the HOGs when it comes to beating the tar out of their equipment. It sure is nice knowing that all of our knives end up in abusive homes!! :D

Thanks,

Jerry

I got the HOFSH. I don't have any way to accurately measure the thickness but I though I read that they were .31" thick. I could be wrong.

Thank you Silas.

What kind of handle did you get on yours? One final thing: don't forget to post some pictures; we need to indulge ;) !

Take care,

George

Regarding touching up that edge, if you have a sharpmaker or a ceramic rod somewhere just give it a few licks(making sure you're getting the very edge) to knock the burr off, and strop on the back of a belt (or if you have a strop use that) and it should be nipping hairs off above yer arm in no time.

Edit: Unlike everyone else here I've had a few minor issues with getting truly sharp edges with sandpaper. I always have to touch them up with a flat stone afterwards as they would cut but never shave(or even act like they were trying), so practice a bit on smaller knives till you feel confident with it.

Mine has the Magnum handles. Yep, a HOFSH with Magnum handles. I was a little worried that it would be to big but it (HOFSH/Mag) feels great.

Yes the Mag handles are awesome  especially when you are chopping  Can't wait to swing a FBM with the Magnums :D

Hey George,
Congrats on the knife. Just read your reply tonight. The forum has been busy since last night, this morning, when I was on last. Sounds like everything turned out great. Hard to go wrong with any Busse! Glad I could be of help. Enjoy your new Busse. I'm sure it won't be your last.

M10CDR,

Nice pic, but I don't know what you did to the link. It looks like the very beginning is hosed: hhttp:/http[/color] doesn't look like the correct URL for anything.

I like the hat, too.

Hi Rick, Glad to know you like the pic. I must have tried five or six times before it will post. Man, I am not too good with computer stuff.
