Received my first Mora in the mail today. I went for the proven favorite the MG Companion - it's without a doubt the most comfortable and sharpest knife I've ever owned - all of this for $16. I can't believe I held off for SO many years to pick one up. I've only cut up some lemons for my tea so far, but can't wait to take her out for some wood cutting.

Congratulations.
You're in deep doo-doo now.
Pretty soon, you won't be happy unless you have a wheel of Moras.

Good choice there I've got one like it also. They work great on dressing game too cleaned several deer and hogs with it so far.

did ya know ... mora make a machete too ?

I havent bought one yet ... I think I will soon tho , just to have another long lump of razor sharp steel kicking around my house :)

Mine is great for removing the breast from dove, however, I did a side by side comparision on removing backstrap this year and prefer a stiffer blade. Still I have two in the kitchen and the wife won't let them go.

I love my MG companion. Awesome choice and welcome to the club. They're the greatest thing since sliced bread... and sliced bread is only great since it was sliced with a Mora!

Technically it's an insulation knife, but it does very nicely as a machete once the edge is thickened! The edge from the factory is so thin that it buckles when cutting woody stems, but at 30 degrees inclusive it holds up wonderfully. I love mine, and have been using for everything from trimming brush to opening packages and food prep. Once I get a sheath made for it it's going on my EDC pack. It's light enough that I can easily carry it everywhere. :D:thumbup:

I gave away my last Mora in November. Never owned more than a couple. The ones I have owned and handled were far from the sharpest or most comfortable knives I have used.
I'll admit that they are serviceable, and represent a fair value for what you pay. Fortunately, I can pay more. :D

You won't find me giving up my customs and higher end production blades, but I really do enjoy using Moras a lot. Especially for lots of carving, they are so light, thin and sharp you can whittle away for hours on end.

Edited to add pics, who doesn't like pics! :)

I like my Mora. Gets super sharp really easily and performs very well, especially for the price. For me the Allround HQ is very comfortable to hold and use.

I recently bought a Mora Companion Carbon as well. I felt my knife collection wouldn't be complete without one and it's the perfect knife to hone my sharpening skills. I will probably buy another for my son as his first fixed blade.

I love Moras. Comfortable, sharp, and a joy to use and not worry about beating them up if you have to.

Moras are great knives, for everything that´s up to anything like a cutting job. I use mine for everything on the building lot, not for food prep. I just got some contact with strange materials like varnish, clue and whatever. I destroyed already about four of the 711 (the 711 is my favorite Mora pattern). The carbonsteel is great and gets a pretty fine edge.

I´m sure, you´ll like yours! Congrats to that!

BTW: The top pic are a Glock Feldmesser 78, a Vic and a Mora 711, my building lot setup. Even for very hard duty!

Kind regards

Congrats on your first Mora! That is actually the one I have been looking at getting and you guys are really making me want to order it. I have been on the fence for a couple of weeks but I keep being drawn to it haha.

I just bought my first mora as well, and so far am really impressed with it. Mine is pretty ugly and by what im used to seems a bit anemic but it cuts wonderfully and i keep shooting down all of my excuses not to carry just this little knife in the woods.

Congrats, Sufler, that's a great knife. The MG Companion looks almost identical to the Clipper, which I have several, and the Craftsman Alround. I also have a 2000 I use a lot around the kitchen. Great knife designs and great users for the money.
