This summer I picked up a few used Cold Steels from my local pawnshops. Well Cold Steel did me a huge solid by sending me a pocket clip and thumb stud for my Recon 1 for free! This meant a lot to me and I am a firm believer that buying new knives is what actually supports a company.

I wanted to get something in XHP and the choice was this or the Hold Out II. So after watching a few reviews I had to get myself a Code 4.

This knife is amazing! For some reason the lock is much smoother then the other CS's I own, and the fit and finish is great.
One thing that did surprise me is how thin and light this knife is. At first it threw me off but once I started carrying it I fell even more in love with it. Forget bugouts etc. if you want a knife that feels like it disappears in the pocket and yet is still rock solid enough for any situation you need one of these.

Nice blades! Code 4 and Recon 1 are both fantastic and I agree on supporting a great company. I was able to snag an XHP Code 4 recently as well and it is such a great knife. Now I'm eyeing the black scales/all black version as well as the upcoming Desert Warrior BHQ version of the Recon 1. Congrats on the new knife!

Great pictures guys.
I just got a Code 4 Tanto and love it. The thickness (or lack of) took me by surprise at first, but you get used to it.
You guys in the US are very lucky with your knife choices and prices.
US knives are quite expensive across the pond in the UK, and often models are on backorder for weeks...
I do try to support my American cousins businesses though where I can.

I'd love a Recon 1 Tanto (satin blade) - but they are a considered purchase here.
May treat myself to one for Xmas though......:D

Gawd, I really wish I was born in the US sometimes.....:thumbsup:

This is not a sarcastic retort, just an honest question based on curiosity. Why is the Code 4 one of your favorites ?
It's a seriously underrated knife because most folks don't like that the scales are "slick". I love the feeling of sleekness and don't find the lack of texture to be an issue. As an employee here, I literally just get to use knives as hard as possible every day. All of the videos we do and crazy things we put the knives through, and I've never had an issue with the Code 4 being too slippery. Its perfectly thin while maintaining its strength, rides in the pocket very well, fits in the hand even better. I also like the aesthetic of how the grey aluminum has sort of a green tinge to it. I wouldn't put it above something like an AD-10 in terms of build quality, but it's damn close for $100 less.

Thanks. That's a great honest reply.

I totally agree and generally recommend the Code 4 to others more than any other model.

If Cold Steel offered a G10 model (no liners), it would pretty much be a license to print money.

I guess the Golden Eye was the closest thing. Thin scales. But with color of G-10, the clip and the HTR it didn't last.

I actually really like the G10 GoldenEye, which surprised me. Really like the texture ...grippy but not a pocket shredder. But I spend a lot of time in RI which has a 3" limit, so i stick with the Grik.

Nor have I.
Was using it only yesterday with soaking wet hands and it didn't remotely feel unsafe or like my hand would slip.
Personally, I feel this is one of the most aesthetically pleasing folders around as well. A real looker.
