Hey guys,

Yes gentlemen. Finally got my first genuwine Case Peanut. This was partly due to be submersed the the stories of some many of our fellow members, Jackknife, Elcuchillo, Sm2, to name a few, with stories of their exploits with the Peanuts. Rightly so, I did folksy right and got the yeller Peanut knife with cv.
Man, I have got to say that this knife Sweet. This knife CAN cut. It's cutting potential is stored in the "boxiness" of the handle and thinness of the blade. The blade has a very hollow grind, barely noticable. Overall, it's a little monster.
The blades, especially the pen was bite stiff to get out, but now they are alrgith. I have even learned to open both, yess both, of the blades, one handed.
This is definitely a knife that I will be carrying for awhile.

God Bless

Well congrats kidwholaughs, Its one heck of a knife. I would say, that it is the most underrated knife. (with tactical folders being the most overrated ;) )
There seems to be a peanut fever besides the well known yeller fever.

Be carefull kid, till you get the feel of the smaller knife. Brother in law borrowed mine to zip open a big bag of Kingsford charcoal at a backyard BBQ last summerand zipped open his left hand pretty good. He was unprepard for how fast and easy it cut. Some hours and several stiches later he enjoyed the burger and potato salid we left for him when he got back from the local ER.

A peanut right off the strop can be a little flesh eating mother!

Yep I got caught with this Peanut thing too , been carrying my Case cv Peanut since I got it , works just fine. A real covert cutter.

Good for you, kidwholaughs. I caught a dose of peanut fever myself several months ago and like you my first symptom was yellow CV. Since that time several other symptoms have appeared such as bone, stag, damascus, and pearl. Peanut fever is a serious aliment. In advanced cases custom peanuts are not uncommon. Check out this one that malextwo posted in another thread. A Joel Chamblin peanut.

I am still carrying my stag peanut, I like the fact that it fits in my front pocket better than my larger knives, I am still getting used to the small size in my large hands. I do wish that CASE would start using CV in some of thier other handle types as I seem to be addicted to stag. Steven

I have a few knives in my rotation now, but the Peanut is STILL my favorite. I love my CV Stockman, and I still love my SAKs, but as for favorite all time pattern, the Peanut still rules. Lately I've been carrying a little Schrade 3ot lockback, and it's very Peanutish. I mean, it's a lockback, but it is still very folksy, and about the same size as a Peanut. I think, as far as this family of forumites we have here on BF, the Peanut has become the epitome of Folksiness, with stories, testimonials, and converts. Definitely the most influential knife I've read about in the two years I have been here.

They are awesome. I've been enjoying the blue one Anthony sent my way. It is a serious cutter.

It is a little beefier than a Schrade or Ulster peanut.

I think I may be losing my mind.

I got my Peanut a little bit ago. I've carried, whittled with it, found things it does well and some it doesn't.

One that it doesn't do so well is make a clean slice of cheese off a 1 or 2 pound block of sharp cheddar.

Last night, my wife sent me out for a few things at the grocery, and I was walking past a display of more exotic cheeses, and there was a slender block of super sharp cheddar. I pulled out my peanut and checked -- it is skinny enough for the Peanut to make a clean slice. I didn't even blink -- I bought a five dollar block of cheddar so I could use my Peanut to cut it. Slimline Trapper makes short work of any other blocks of cheese, I just wanted the little guy to have his own.

Yeah, I are nuts.

Dogs are smart. My little French Brittany sat at my feet while I ate my slice of cheese after our walk this evening, staring at me. Every so often, she got to catch a little chunk of it. "Don't pet me right now, I can't see -- I have to watch those hands and catch bits of cheese." She started watching as soon as I stopped in front of the fridge and pulled out my pocket knife, and didn't stop until I washed it off.

Sure it will, ya just have to pick a corner and slice it on the angle. I admit it ain't a slice of cheese, more like a trianglular cheese stick.:D

All dogs are smart that way. Soon as I walk into the kitchen, Pearl The Wonder Corgi takes up station in the doorway and watches what goes on very carefully!

Well, I have to agree -- I can get cheese of the chunk with the Peanut, no matter the size of the chunk.

But: when you have memories of voices in your head saying things like, "who left the cheese such a mess? Better work on that son, show your skill with the knife -- clean cuts with a sharp knife should look nice when you're done."

When you have voices like that in your head, you just can't bring yourself to hack up a chunk of cheese.

:o Can't get past some things that you learn as a child.

Congratulations!

sixgunner455,
Pay attention and learn something will ya? *wink*

Little triangle cheese slices melt better on a Triscuit in the microwave with a slice of jalapeño' pepper on top.

You ain't cutting the cheese wrong - instead using the wrong cracker.

Just stick with the Peanut, Saltines and Triscuits and everything will be all right.

Saltines...the triangle cut cheese atop wedge cut summer sausage levels out.

Don't forget to make sure they're the real saltine's. None of that no fat or no salt one's. How do they have no salt saltines, anyway?

Don't think of it as messing up the cheese, think of it as adding nice 45 degree bevels on the square end. And its true, in the microwave it all melts down even.:D

Don't worry about the voices in your head, I ignore mine all the time. Really.

Peanuts are an alternate reality.

Single mom raising a daughter and has a Peanut.

Pretty cool when mom uses her Peanut to cut cheese, summer sausage and have quality time watching a rented movie and have a picnic on the coffee table.

It was time to get daughter her first knife, a Peanut.
Friday Frump Nite, with frumpy clothes, a movie, and cheese , crackers and other stuff they munch on.

That daughter got so exited! I mean one foot hop, hand flaying , big eyes and almost in tears happy.

She runs to her room with Peanut in one hand, the box in the other, mom hears her open and shut a dresser drawer, she runs back and is ready to cut some cheese...

With the box in her hand.

"Sweetie, we might have to sharpen that box a bit before you try to cut that cheese".

*lol*

thawk, thats one nice schrade peanut, I love the long nail nick.

Thanks, Peter. Since you noticed. Here's one a little newer. They shortened the nicks, especially the one on the pen, but added a nifty swedge to the clip.
