I'm sure the title has been used a million times, but I received my PM2 this past Saturday and it is awesome! The compression lock is probably my favorite thing about it. It scared me at first because I disengaged the lock and the blade fell right onto my fingers. Luckily there were no cuts because the angle didn't allow it fall that fast, but I had not idea it was going to just fall. It flicks open extremely smooth and closes the same. I also recently discovered that if you disengage the lock while closed and give it just the slightest flick, the blade will open. It truly is a one hand knife. The lockup is also very solid.

Until owning this knife, I never knew what good g10 felt like. My only experience with g10 was my Tenacious. It's decent, but I never understood the obsession people had with g10 until now. I may still like Spyderco's FRN more (and I know I'm probably in the minority here), but the g10 on the PM2 is very comfortable and grippy. (As an aside, I would love a FRN knife with the open construction like the PM2 and Tenacious. Not sure if this is possible though. Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong or point me in the right direction if Spyderco already has a knife like this.) The jimping on the thumb ramp and finger choil is also great. Speaking of choil and thumb ramp, I find the grip to be very comfortable either choked up or only on the handle.

I've read the hype about this knife and read the disappointments when someone bought it and it didn't meet their expectations. I have been wanting to try one out. Spyderco has become my favorite folder brand and everyone's praise made me want to try this knife. When I found one on the exchange here for under $90 and the listing was about 17 hours old, I took it as a sign that that one was the one for me. I am extremely pleased with my purchase, and I believe I would be just as pleased if I had paid retail for it.

Mr. Glesser, fantastic knife! Thank you for creating it!

You will learn to hold the knife at a low angle before punching the lock so the blade doesn't fall that fast (can you say guillotine?), and keep your fingers out of the way. You can tighten the pivot a little bit to add some friction and control how fast the blade falls.

FRN has its place but it is impossible, or at least difficult, to make a FRN knife operate as smoothly as a G10 knife with liners.

I've definitely learned to keep my fingers out of the way. I will keep it loose though because I like the way it falls.

As far as the frn, I know it won't be as smooth. But it can also have nested liners because my Stretch does. So can it be made with an open construction and a liner lock?
