Queen Mountain Man, in cocobolo scales. Since stag and bone handles don't excite me as much, cocobolo is next to perfect. I love the very audible click when opening, its heft and length amuses and delights me. The bolsters, the logo, everything is TOO shiny! :D But I will not shelter this knife from hard work. Let's put the D2 to the test!

Congratulations....you picked a nice one ! Keep us updated on how "she" performs for you.

When I got the knife yesterday, it did not have the factory-sharp edge I was used to, like a Buck 110 or a Spyderco has. To give an idea, it won't slice a lime via a push cut. Sawing didn't help either. I had to break out the Sharpmaker and do passes on the white stones for hair popping sharpness. 60 on the edges and 60 on the flats were enough.

My question: is the Queen D2 going to show some stains/ spots if left without oxidation maintainance like A.G. Russell's Rustfree? D2 really confuses me, with all the reading, steel FAQ's...

Queen D2 will show stains and will pit. It is a carbon steel that is more stain resistant than say 1095, but not a true stainless. My Queen D2 takes a slight patina during use, if you're not careful with things like picke juice it will pit. I find it pits more than some carbon steel (e.g. L6) Rinse it off after use with acidics, don't just wipe.
