It was out of reach in 2005. And until recently, I thought I'd be happy just enjoying photos of the knife... Well... It took some time, I was out bid on a few, I let some nice examples pass (and 1 or 2 that had issues), and I finally found the perfect example for me... AND I GOT IT! I just received my 2005 Case/Bose lockback whittler with stag handles and it was definitely worth the wait! The mechanics is excellent. The finish is excellent. The stag is perfect for my tastes. I couldn't be happier!

I'll post some photos later but I was so excited that I couldn't wait to share it with you guys.

My new "grail" knife is a custom made knife from one of the fine makers here on Bladeforums.

The Case/Bose Lockback Whittler is one I've been hunting for a while as well. Congrats on finally bagging one!

As far as complications and mechanics. You picked a fantastic example (at least that is my story) Congratulations on a great knife. If I had to pick one colab, that would be the one.

Congrats... I'm sure you'll enjoy it! Feels good to
finally get the one "You" wanted.... That's what it's
all about.

Well done, sir. Well done.

You've managed to reel-in a knife that, IMHO, easily represents one of the finest examples of modern production traditional-styled cutlery available. I swear, I do one of these "" every time I take mine out of the knife case. The design and workmanship on those puppies is just phenomenal.

Good for you!
That is IMHO the keenest model, of the best all around series of productions knives ever (or at least in my lifetime).
Can't wait to see some pics.

Thank you guys! I'm still grinning ear-to-ear. I added a few photos but it's overcast and raining here so the lighting isn't the best.

Tomsch, Except for antiques, I only buy knives to use but I think I'll just admire this one for a while... atleast for now.

Way to go! Those are fantastic knives without a doubt. I still haven't worked up the guts to carry mine yet. Now good luck on the next "grail". ;)

Good for you. I remember when I got my lockback....I cut wood with it for months on end. Such a great little knife.
