Now I know what all of the fuss is about. What a great little knife, and SHARP! It is definitely the sharpest factory edge I have had, just gently wipes the hair off, and it is going to get even sharper soon.

The shape fits my hands very well. The blade is centered, opens/locks/closes very well for a lockback with a rivoted pivot pin, and the grinds are nice and even.

I can see why it never really caught on, though. In black FRN it does not look like anything special, and even the gray with bead blasted clip only dresses it up a little bit. I also now know why knife-nut types rave about it so much.

Great job, Spyderco. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming burgundy sprint with ZDP steel.

I disagree. It is a slick looking knife. The grey is a welcomed break from black. The "fish scale" finish is attractive and practical. I use one as my EDC/money clip and I have gotten many comments on how nice it looks. The lightness of the FRN handles leads some to falsely think it is cheap. However, that is an ignorant thought. You can't beat the ergodynamics.

it's a coincidence, but i too receive a grey caly jr today, and i must admit i'm very impressed with it. apart from the somewhat small 11mm spyderhole, i think the caly jr is in overall a better knife than the delica. what i don't understand is why the delica has always been more popular than the caly.

a shame that the calypso's have been discontinued due to low demand, i just can't understand that.

It is not really discontinued yet. The grey FRN ones are, but in a few months there will be a burgundy colored handled with the new Japanese ZDP-189 supersteel.

what I would really like to see is a yellow or red cross red sprint run - my BOB and first aid kit cry out for one.

the grey calypso jr is my EDC - it just takes a beating and keeps on going....

I received mine today also. I would have gotten it yesterday, but I missed the first UPS delivery. It is a really nice little knife.

I HAD to buy 2 (3rd, but it's spykens now). Love these things! I just hope I can keep em sharp
