Just got my first RAT in the mail a HEST. I love it but the handle smells like burnt brake pads. I was hoping it would say ESEE on the pommel/pry bar but it says RAT, now I don't want to use it, I want to keep it forever just the way it is. Very nice knife tho.:D
 
I have 3--one in my hurricane kit--one that will have to be pried from my cold dead hand
and one that I sent to my son. ENJOY IT !!!!!!!!
 
I got mine last day aswell.. I was also hoping for it to say EESE but no dice.. Maybe my next one will :D
 
It's a great little knife! I have two...one that I've used and then one of the numbered ones I haven't used yet. Now with the name change I'll be really hesitant to use the numbered one unless I have no better choice at the time.
 
I am going to use this knife forsure, I think it is actually going to be my new #1 use knife. I just finished setting up the sheath, this is a wicked knife I love this thing.
 
Welcome to the HEST club. You will love this knife/tool more every time you use it. I have been EDCing mine for 5 months now and can't see not having it. It is a great first ESEE.
 
I say use it! Cause in the coming years, when its well worn, and still going strong, you can make the choice to clean it, oil it up, and put it away, and save for your kids. I pay no mind to the logo or coating or anything, USE THE DAMN KNIFE O:) thats imho, cause its meant to be. I was going to get a hest just over the weekend, but found somebody who has a 5pack, and an extra 5. 2 knives. NEW. Never used, but show signs of light rash on the sharpened edge of one knife, so the guy didnt want them, he said they wouldn't look good in his display case if they aren't shiney and perfect. rofl.

I just scored a 5 + pack, and an extra 5 he purchased. RETARDED I know, but his loss, my gain. And they will get knocks and dinged, they are ganna eat wood, pierce animal meat, and get beat on :)

They are meant to be used, not collected like shoes.
I personally collect shoes, but only ones I like, than use to hell, than retire and find another one worthy :)

Whats the point of getting something just to stare at it, its like cars. I mean hey, I know there are some nice ones out there, that ARENT driven, but than again...whats a car for? Its meant to see the road, get bugs splattered on it...

:) Tracking number says my knives will be here soon :) Going to see how they look bundled with my remora :D been waiting to get that Gerber off there, and a little rat in its place :)
