I knew I was going to mod it just from pics on the web, so I wasted no time :D The handle bit into my hand in a couple places, as I figured it would, and I got rid of most of the swedge, giving me a more usable point and a profile I find more pleasing. Some of the flipper seemed like it would just get in the way of cutting, so that got ground a bit. Since I'm not Batman, the clip had to go, too.

Very nicely done. Though when I pick up the JYD II I don't think I'll change it at all. It's one of the best production designs I've seen in quite some time.

I like that, I think it looks better imo I might have to try modding mine and see how I like it.

Very well done. I’ve been considering the small JYD and think a few things wouldn’t work for me. I may just have to get one and mod it like you’ve done.
Btw I’ve always suspected that you were Batman. :)

thats the first thing i thought about doing also-and i gave consideration to a finger choil

Nice work, hardheart. And I always thought I inspired terror in the hearts of new knives ... though with me it's the factory edge that's always first to go.

Being part Klingon myself, I'm quite partial to the bat'leth-style pocket clip. Whoever this Batman is, he has no honor claiming the clip is designed for him!

It seems like everybody modifying JDs! I think this is a sign of special love and respect to this knives, everybody like to came close and make it personal. Sign of care or something!

I guess Tim just design people knife - knife everybody just love.

Thanks, Vassili.

I got my first one two weeks ago and some sh!tbird stole it out of my luggage on a a trip, so I ordered a second one immediately. I love it. It is much better than my old EDC knife. Fantastic sharpness, opens wonderfully, and since I actually AM Batman, I like the clip.

I'm Batman.

As a member of the Geek Squad, I can't stand the clip. Otherwise I love my JYD II just the way it is. Sooner or later, I am going to get the original clip replaced with a "quiet" deep pockets clip.

Do you think theres is any way to fold back the clip and make it ride lower.

Personally, I don't think the result would be worth it. Using the equipment I have; A vise, pliers and hammer, the modified clip would probably look like a botched lobotomy. The new fold would probably end up over the clip's top hole and the wide part of the clip would overhang the finger cutout area of the frame. So it would have to be filed down.

The folded back clip would be more gaudy than ever with all the gouges and tool marks. But the knife would ride lower in the pocket.

I agree with Vorpal Blade, my best advice to you would be contact STR. He's on this forum. He can do a low rider clip and has a great rep. around here.
