Wow.................. thats it....just wow. I got my khuk in the mail yesterday, and it is beautiful!!! The spine is 5/8 of an inch thick and the blade is 14" long. I'll weigh it here as soon as I can, this thing is HEAVY! I am SO please with this knife! Sher did a fine job. This thing can out-chop and out-split my friend's axe, and it was funny to see him turn green. I thank Sher and Yangdu so much! I just have a few questions- the blade came with some red stuff that was inside some of the lines, it comes out, but I have to scrape it out with a paperclip....what is it? The blade came with a minor black stain on it, the stain has a scratchy pattern to it, do you think Flitz will take off any gunk or stains on the blade, including the one I just described? Will something like Remington Gun Oil keep rust and stains away, if not, what would you guys recommend? Thanks all!

I clean the polishing compound out of the grooves with dish soap and a toothbrush under warm running water. Dry it thoroughly and oil or polish the blade. I like hoof cream on horn handles and oil on wood. There are lots of ideas if you paw through the archives.

Enjoy!

Any oil should help prevent corrosion. I use cooking oil. Frequent inspection is probably a good idea if you want to keep the shine as long as you can.

My first khukuri was a villager model and was not polished. My latest came with a heck of a shiny polish....but I've been using it a lot, and already the blade has stains and scratches. Doesn't matter. In fact, it will look better to me when it has lost its shine. It looks more like an ornament compared to all my other tools.
