I got my lost Zig-Zag Umfaan back after 3 years! Yesterday I was talking knives with a relatively new co-worker who transferred from another division of our company. He mentioned finding a "plain" looking little knife our large company parking lot about two years ago. It was my Zig-Zag! I bought him dinner for finding and returning my knife. He couldn't believe it was a $300 knife! --- Now I have THREE Umfaans. I replaced my "lost" Zig-Zag Umfaan with a "Spears" design Umfaan two years ago. Recently, I purchased a Unique Umfaan because I was afraid I'd lose my "Spears" Umfaan, which had been lost and found three times already. To prevent losing my Umfaans I will tie lanyards to loop on my belt. Those little suckers like to jump out of my pocket.

'scuse me, but did you say $300 for a zig zag? I saw one sold at a knife store about three year ago for close to $700. The holes were different colored ano, kinda like a rainbow effect. Those rare?

Congratulations Rodmeister, that is finding a real old friend. You show real class in treating your coworker to dinner as a thank you. My small Sibbie seems to like to hide, the lanyard might be a good idea.

If it had the anodized holes, then it is one of the first Umfaans. The Zig Zag came the next year and has lines machined into it, not donut shapes.

Rodmeister,

Glad you got your knife back. I can't imagine how bad that felt when you lost it. I have that same model Umfaan that I have been carryng for years. I think I would actually cry if I lost it. I know I would at least swear a lot. ;)

I'm seeing an average of 1.5 Umfaans listed for sale per month, anywhere...suckers ain't easy to come by. Maybe you can get NOS at some dealers or at shows, but I haven't run across one in the wild.

I saw someone selling a reconditioned one a few weeks ago for a pretty penny and it was gone in two days. The seller thought it took a long time to sell...LOL!!
